2024, What you think of Your performance!

Hello, just wanted to know what percentage that your GPU and CPU are running at when you are fully using MSFS2024.

With downtime with the forum we lost some threads/posts and I didn’t want to open another one up again :stuck_out_tongue:

Just wanted to know if I’m the only one that sees that my CPU and GPU are maxed out.

Fenix A320, at EGGW with the inibuilds scenery, medium to high settings, locked at 36FPS on 1440p

Seeing my system maxed out to the point that there is no more room to even open up Chrome to watch videos XD

Been like it since the World update came into place, even when I was on Beta1 I never saw the system maxed out like a monkey.

I spent two days trying to optimize MSFS 2024. doing a clean install, adjusting settings to medium-high, and reducing CPU load to give the system more headroom for browsing and streaming.

I thought I had fixed it, but unfortunately, I haven’t. At this point, I’m seriously considering binning 2024, getting a refund, or even upgrading my system just to run the sim properly.

While parked in the Fenix A320 for a short flight, my CPU was hovering between 70-80%, with the lowest at 60%, and my GPU was similarly loaded. Yes, I had other programs running, but then the sim crashed, causing a full system freeze with an nvlddmkm driver error. The display restarted, crashing MSFS and other applications along with it.

Ever since the update, performance has been worse, CPU and GPU usage is far higher than before, nearly maxing out at 100%. Meanwhile, MSFS 2020 runs far better. After two days of troubleshooting with no improvement, I’m at my limit. My system simply can’t handle 2024 in its current state.

To make matters worse, when I reached out for help, instead of offering solutions, people just blamed me and my system, insisting it’s my fault rather than the sim’s.

At least post some some specs if you want feedback.
2024 runs much better on my system compared to 2020.
GPU is usually at 99%. CPU 30-60%.

Running on a system that’s on an i7 10700K not OC with an RTX 3090 with 64gb ram at 1440p

So yeah 3090 is ■■■■ need a 6090 to able to run at 30FPS

Nah, the 3090 is pretty good.
Had one before.

The 10700 is not that beefy though.
Open Dev overlay and watch CPU + GPU + (V)RAM usage.

Turn TloD to 100 or below. Texture res Medium.
Check out lossless acaling.

Was starting to feel optimistic about the direction FS24 was headed. After experiencing some better performance in the recent beta. Now I’m struggling with huge stutters all over again. Now awaiting SU2 beta??? Trying a clean install now… The story is never ending haha! 13900k 4090 64gb

That’s the issue anything CPU-bound is already set lower. With FPS locked at 36 and TLOD at 120 (with settings ranging from medium to high), the CPU stays around 60% usage but spikes up to 80% when moving the camera, especially at EGLL.

Even after lowering settings further TLOD down to 50 and everything on low the CPU usage remains high and doesn’t decrease. Meanwhile, the GPU is maxed at 16GB VRAM, running between 85-95% usage.

I never experienced this in 2024 until update #19, which seems to have caused the issue despite not being streamed. MSFS 2020 performed much better, without maxing out my CPU or GPU.

With MSFS 2024, I’ve encountered the nvlddmkm driver error twice, indicating a GPU-related issue on driver version 572.70.

I also have Lossless Scaling, but it performs poorly, especially in windowed mode while trying to use other programs.

I’ve just tried a 9800x3d and 5090 system, and disappointed to find I am CPU limited to around 25fps on the ground at a busy airport like EGLL (it’s the MSFS2020 premium version) with live traffic on low. Is this normal?

I’m running a i9-14900KF, 4080 Super, 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz.

I run everything on Ultra and run at my capped 80FPS on a 1080p TV. That would change if I was running in 2k or 4k resolution. At Large airports (KJFK, KNEW. KLAX) I will notice some lower frame rates but it’s usually about 30FPS. I Haven’t tried the ini A350 but I’ve heard it’s rough on frames. but every other 3rd party aircraft I fly and all the defaults run great

U say the outcome but don’t mention your guys’ CPU is maxed out

I want to be able to use 2024, on good settings that’s stable using most of my GPU as it should like 80% and CPU at 40 to 50% with no CTD or drivers crash

Yet it’s never like that, on Medium settings and CPU and GPU is maxed out

PC specs are listed above

FFX Piaggio Avanti, KATL, Ultra, Live weather and traffic
79FPS, GPU 53%, CPU 28%, Latency 71ms

Departure FFX Piaggio Avanti, KATL, Ultra, Live weather and traffic
72FPS, GPU 53%, CPU 30%, Latency 79ms

Fly over FFX Piaggio Avanti, KATL, Ultra, Live weather and traffic
79FPS, GPU 43%, CPU 27%, Latency 71ms

Might be something wrong with your system, tbh.
Windows? RAM? SDD/M2?
Im running on the 566.36 driver. The 570.xx just gives me freezes/endless load-in etc. Might try some more later, but very stable atm.

Some stuff to try:
BIOS, Chipset driver.
Delete SceneryIndexes
HAGS ON.
Remove Nvidia HD audio (device manager-disable).
PhysX to GPU
Run System File Checker
Game Mode ON
Nvidia shader cache UNLIMITED.
Power management Max.
Delete NV GLCache + DXCache.

64gb of DDR4 ram, 3600mhz with the flight sim on M.2 drive, Windows 11 23H2 Not on the 24H2

I hear there is a massive VRAM/memory leak in 2024 with the new update.

Bios is updated and chipset,
HAGS are off - I had it on before but then left it off as I had 2020 and had more problems on then off

With RTX2060, Intel i7-9600, 64GB RAM, Fenix, Aerosoft Mega Airport Frankfurt I have a terrible FPS even with lowest settings of about 5-7 FPS (1080P)

The performance is so bad, allthough my graphic settings for MSFS 2024 are such low, that the MSFS2020 graphics with current high settings is much better as MSFS2024 and the fps under MSFS2020 are at least 3 to 4 times higher than under MSFS2024. Except for career mode I still am using MSFS 2020 because with my hardware it has much better graphics and incredible higher fps than MSFS 2024.

Worse then me, even that your on a lower system, your CPU is maxed out also, but do you get CTD allot? in 2024

A lot of settings on ultra, many of the non essential objects medium - grass ect. Fauna OFF.
TLOD 400
Buildings high.
Object LOD 200.

CPU generally runs around 90% with the odd spike at 100%
GPU runs 90% ish. (VR only flyer)

i9 9900K
4080
64GB RAM.

Your setup is barely above min specs for 2024, you’re also running the fenix airbus at a large and detiled 3rd party airport. the performance you’re describing is exactly what I’d expect. 2024 is very VRAM heavy. I’m regularly running 7-12GB of Vram depending on plane and scenery.

I understand the VRAM problem but minimum specs should say, under which system MSFS 2024 can be run and a fps of 5 definitely says the opposite.

Yea but if you put everything on lowest setting use a default aircraft and a smaller default airport do you have the same issue? When Microsoft/Asobo came up with minimum specs they didn’t have 3rd party aircraft and airports factored in, just the base sim.

Minimum specs for the Fenix A320, again this is everything on lowest setting

I am sure above these specs and the same airport (it is just “compatible”) EDDF Aerosoft Mega Airport Frankfurt runs without any problems at high to Ultra graphics settings with Fenix under MSFS 2020 and the same system - shows MSFS2024 is heavily worse in performance comparing to MSFS 2020 with identically sceneries and aircraft - the airtport is installed and not streamed.
