2024 Wish Lists

This question is for the lead forum moderator…

It was assumed that a lot of the 2020 wishlist items would be implemented in 2024. This turned out to be a false assumption. Only a small percentage of them were implemented. In that these productivity, usability, and feature improvements are still desirable/needed, how do we get them on the 2024 wish list? Do we resubmit them tagged for 2024? Do we change the existing tag to 2024? It would be a shame if these wish list items that were so earnestly created for 2020 were to disappear with that product (obviously they wont be implemented in 2020). What is the best way to make sure that doesn’t happen? Thanks.

P.S. The wishlist contains improvements that are requested in good faith by the MSFS users to make the product more appealing, usable, productive, and enjoyable. Many of these requests lingered on the list for years (and are still there). Can you suggest a way to get product management to place a higher priority on these improvements from the user community?

As part of this topic an example would be the wish list item I created for MSFS 2020 to have an aircraft favorites section created where users can check/uncheck planes as a favorite and quickly access them for free flight.

With the launch of MSFS 2024 this forum post has generated quite a few new replies and votes. I believe this is due to the fact that the 2024 sim no longer has categories for jets, props, turboprops etc. and all airplanes are now in a single large category. This makes finding specific airplanes under free flight even more cumbersome and often requires using search.

One way to transfer or append a MSFS 2020 wish list item to include the 2024 version is through use of tags. As can be seen below a wish list item can have tags for both versions of the sim.

I’m not sure if this is the best way of maintaining visibility but it’s something the post creator can do. I believe forum mods can also append additional tags to older posts where applicable.

I’ve added the MSFS 2024 tag to my wishlist items from 2020.

BTW: In Tuesday’s December Developer Live Stream a list of wishlist items for 2024 was shown. This seemed to be a small list compared to what’s in the Wishlist forum category (208 requests for 2024 with votes 10+), and there were unfamiliar items on it. Can this list that was on the video be viewed somewhere (a link to it)? Is this a new list replacing those in the Wishlist category?

Yes you can view the bug and wish list slides from Tuesday in this weeks development update posted last night.

These look to be filtered to cover the top new submissions for MSFS 2024 since it launched.

I’m not sure how they intend to manage things going forward but it would probably be best if they had separate slides for 2020 and 2024 at least for as long as 2020 is still being actively supported and updated.

:+1: Thanks!

Thanks.

Because 2024 was promoted as an improved/upgraded/enhanced version that people on 2020 would want to upgrade to. Since the 200+, 10+ vote wishlist items were not being addressed in 2020, why wouldn’t the “top 100” (or so) wishlists be folded into 2024? (yes, I know, some of them were)

But perhaps it was a bad assumption. The stated root cause for bringing out 2024 was, after all, to redo the base code due to limitations of the original code technology. Nothing was promised in terms of improvements, upgrades, or enhancements, I will give you that. :slightly_smiling_face:

The wishlist for 2020 is huge. No developer could ever possibly do all of them. It was hard enough just to design the new implementation that is 2024 so that the series could carry on, and add features that they felt the community wanted to help bring even more users into the fold. To that end, the aviation industry knows they need to excite more people to fly, as the ranks grow thinner since so many people think it’s too expensive. Hence the career mode and a lot of the features they added. (Just about all the features they’ve added were certainly on my wishlist).

In any event, were you really expecting all the wishlist items to be implemented? :flushed: Nobody ever said that. You created that expectation yourself.

I think it’s great that they continue to review the wishlist, prioritize it the best they can, and continue to knock them off one by one.

But what I hope was the main intent of your question, what happens to the 2020 wishlist items, is a good question. If you watched the Devstream you’d have seen they are still tracking them, though, currently, the bug list items are their main focus.

If you read my post carefully you will see that this is not what I expected.
