3rd party extensions for PS5

Hi, will it ever be possible to install third-party extensions in MSFS on PS5? Any store?

I assume Playstation is as much a closed ecosystem like XBox is. It’s closed down like that to avoid things like viruses, spyware, ransomware, keyloggers, credit-card info theft etc etc.

At the time of writing this comment, there are no ways to install 3rd party modifications for PS5. I’m unfortunately not able to give exact timelines for 3rd party products coming to the in-sim Marketplace for PS5 either. We will ensure any announcements about the addition of 3rd party products to the PS5 in-sim Marketplace will be made here on the MSFS forums, as well as across our social channels too!

Hi @Chewwy94, Is there a real chance that it will open up over time? I would really like Jurassic World, which is a 3rd party game and combined with future PSVR2 support, it must be wonderful.

Unfortunately only in game marketplace ones, as it has been years for xbox, not outside of marketplace. I don’t believe any changes for this coming, despite many promises.

Oh, and not all marketplace ones are compatible with consoles. It depends of the maker, if they would bother for console version at all.

Many promises? I don’t think anyone ever made promises about anything being available outside of marketplace on Xbox. It’s just the nature of a closed down ecosystem.

Well Marketplace on PS5 would be a good start! We don’t know when that’s coming yet. The absence of a timeline on this has meant that I’m unable to commit to purchasing the sim.

Out of interest, how long after launch was Marketplace available on Xbox?

Jorg mentioned this in the last Q&A livestream. 3rd party content in marketplace for PS5 is currently targeted around ‘spring’, so still quite a bit off. When this becomes available it’ll still be up to individual 3rd parties to decide if they want to release on marketplace for PS (I assume most of the developers who have their stuff available for XBox will want to release on PS too, since they like money :slight_smile: )
