ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
When performing a flight in career mode with the 737 MAX, while on descent, if you input a speed/altitude restriction in the FMS, sometimes it will cause the game to completely freeze, requiring ending task in task manager. i have had this happen 3 times now, and have only tried maybe 4 or 5 times i think. for example i put in 210/10000 to reduce speed to 210 at 10000 and as soon as i hit execute button after entering the info, the game freezes.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
seems to be frequent when entering this info

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

1.fly 737 career mission
2.enter descent phase, enter a speed and altitude restriction
3.press execute button

I’m not in career mode, but I took a chance & just tried changing a speed/altitude in the 737 Max FMC then hit EXE and it didn’t hang my system. Admittedly small sample size, & not something I do too often either. (PC, 3090)

yeah i think if i had to guess, of the times i tried it, it seems like about 50% failure rate. i once did it while at cruise and it crashed so i didnt try again for a long time till now and crashed again. could just be a career mode bug. i also noticed when it happens if i monitor my memory usage it spikes all the way to max and holds till i force close MSFS. i could be running along at 22GB usage and bam, 31.8GB usage as soon as it freezes

On the beta this morning my VRAM utilisation at one point ws 19GB out of 24 GB I’ve not seen it that high before on FS2020 or FS2024. Not all the time thugh most of the time it sits around 16GB.

Mine does the same thing now. not just speed restrictions but if i changed a vector waypoint it will freeze

Happens to me too all the time when in career mode and adding the speed restriction. Just starting happening within the last 2 days. Thought is was a beta thing so I switched back and it still happens

Same issue for me entering spd rest, the simulator stops responding and crashes after 1 minute.

Same issue, setting speed limit in descent VNAV profile results in immediate CTD.

Still going strong this bug. Weirdly hasn’t happened for me until 2 days ago after a 7 hour flight and just tried today just after take off this time and boom froze.

Career mode

Same thing can happen if you input a STEP altitude during cruise.

Same here, first time I tried doing a STEP climb according to how I read it should be done my game immediately froze and kept allocating all the available memory on my system until windows started killing processes. Later I tried the same flight again and immediately when clicking “ALT INTV” the same bug triggered. Instant freeze and MSFS eating up all available system memory while frozen.

I made a separate ticket about it, but it sounds like the same type of issue described in this one which thankfully has a few replies with others experiencing the same issue.

At this point I have stopped flying career since I want to fly all around the world with my new Boing 737 but with the high risk of CTDs after several hours of flight it’s just not fun anymore…

I have not tried manually entering any speed or altitude restrictions into FMC but I have used the “SPD INTV” button successfully multiple times during both ascent and descent without any issues. Also didn’t experience freezes before I learned how to do proper step climbs where I just set my desired autopilot altitude and used “LVL CHG” instead. But maybe I’ve just been lucky, I don’t really want to waste hours of my time flying long-haul flights trying to figure out which combination of buttons is safe or unsafe to press. What has caused the crash every time for me is entering the desired altitude first into FMC VNV NAV page “STEP”, then set the AP altitude, then press “ALT INTV” while in VNAV mode.
