I flew from LPPT to LFPG today and had stuttering on approach. In the final they disappeared but I got a black screen on the avionics as soon as I reached the minimums.
It’s a shame, on Xbox it’s been one step forward and two steps back for some time now.
I myself gave up buying the console because of these problems reported by several users since its launch on the platform. imagine how much money this ecosystem loses when the masses do this…
Friends have already done everything, all that was left was to disassemble the Xbox, but that didn’t solve it (I would have already thrown it into the wall. Lol). This issue of crashes and microstuttering is stuck with the SU13. All we have left is to mourn.
Thats what i feared… no matter, i shall play something else until they find a fix. Thanks for the response. Appreciate it. Just wish they would be a little more forthcoming with what the plan is. Hope we don’t have to wait for su14…
Without having read the entire thread, in my experience - with MSFS Premium Deluxe, on Xbox X - I had some performance issues that did go away after a complete reset. I fly the 787 a lot, and was in beta testing for sim updates. I have no 3rd party add-ons and only use Xbox for MSFS, so this is relatively easy but takes a bit of time and care, easy enough if you follow some steps.
Everyone says you “shouldn’t” need to re-install, and I agree you “shouldn’t need to” - but in practice, some problems did go away and at the launch of SU13 some people were forced to do a clean install of content (so why not just do a full reset). I still do have some stuttering of the 787 around landing (but there is currently an Xbox stability test where they are collecting telemetry data to address this).
I think that with the introduction of WASM there has been some optimization of base content and world update files and they tried to make it seemless to avoid a need to re-install, but I’m guessing it didn’t go perfectly. I noticed during a re-install that the World Update downloads were MUCH smaller, and possibly were processed to be more optimised (ie, if you don’t have 8K monitors, no 8K textures are needed).
I personally choose to do an extra step and do a full reset of Xbox, since if you’re going as far as to reinstall MSFS, resetting Xbox only takes few minutes extra.
If it helps anyone, these steps below are what I do - be aware it deletes all saved settings, including log book, and controller profiles, etc. In a few instances I did the reinstall but allowed old settings to be restored - and the problems came back defeating the purpose of the clean install. I’ve found these steps will remove as much history as possible, which is close to setting up “as new” as you can get:
On the Xbox home screen, highlight MSFS, press the Menu button on the controller, and go to Manage Game and Addons
Go to Saved Data > highlight JUST your User profile, and press the “A” button to Delete…It will ask if you want to delete saved data for MSFS - chose “Delete Everywhere”
Next, still in the Saved Data > Delete Reserved Space
Next, Uninstall MSFS
Xbox Home Screen > Settings > System > Console Info > Reset Console > Reset and Remove Everything
Xbox will reboot, sign in, and do NOT restore saved settings from the cloud.
Go to Settings > System > Updates and check for any updates
If you are enrolled in MSFS beta testing, go and install the Insider Hub app first, and make sure it shows you are enrolled.
To avoid interruption during install and flying, I change the following:
• In Settings > Preferences > Idle Options >
• Turn off after > “Don’t turn off automatically”
• Show me things when idle > (Uncheck) to avoid interruption on long flights
Reboot for good measure
Install MSFS, including the Offline and Addon for WASM
let it finish installing fully before launching - I reboot after install for good measure
Open MSFS, go through initial set up screens
Open Content Manager, and only install 1 World Update at a time. This can take a while, but you’ll probably notice the downloads are much smaller. There will be a weird freeze at the end of each one, as it is cleaning up the install (and possibly compiling stuff…) don’t interrupt it.
After installing a few World Updates, do a reboot for good measure - I keep doing this because there is a history of memory leaks and cache corruption.
Do a test flight - I’m willing to bet it’s smoother (depending on servers, of course).
Xbox series x. Unplayable lag in most aircraft. Small aircraft at small airports is just about tolerable. Worked through every possible fix and still no better. Ran an internet connection test through thinkbroadband website and it’s showing I’ve got 100% packet loss spikes all over the place which is what is causing the lag/stutters. Seems that SU13 is much more reliant on a very stable internet connection than previous updates. This has happened in previous updates for some people and they’ve fixed is shortly after so I’m hoping this will be the same.
One suggestion they have which is haven’t been able to do is to take your Xbox round to a friend/family’s house and try it on their connection to see if that exposes it as your internet connection. I’m in the process of changing my ISP so crossing my fingers that new one is more stable. I’ve got an open case with Microsoft for my issues so they’ve asked me to update them once on new ISP
Bring the results when ready, but it won’t solve. I say this because I did tests on Xcloud and asked other people to test as well and the Lag result is the same. Well, Xcloud is maintained by Azure and I think the internet is cutting edge and I imagine that Xcloud receives high speed connection and extremely low pings. So it may not be related and be a coincidence in your case.
It’s more that my internet is generally losing packets, not just to the Flight Simulator servers. It seems to be the only thing left that it can be as I have done a full reset back to factory of my Xbox and reinstalled from scratch with no add-ons and still have the problems. In the flying group that I am part of, there is a mix of people who have never had it better regardless of what aircraft they fly and others who, like me, have it barely playable and the only variable is people’s home broadband connection
Xbox s
Interesting to read discussion about internet connection. I took my console to my partners house, really good high speed broadband. Unfortunately didn’t improve things at all. Lagging or ctd in most attempts to fly.
Be really nice to have an update on the situation…please. i and many others have alot of money invested in something which is unusable. A bit fed up of it.
