It’s been several months since the release of the simulator, and the 787 and 747 (all variants) continue to suffer from longstanding visual issues that haven’t yet been addressed. These include:
No visible wingflex
Broken or missing animations, especially around the landing gear and control surfaces
Incorrect materials and reflective surfaces
Liveries displaying incorrectly — with inaccurate colors or materials
Very aggressive LOD behavior that reduces model quality even at short distances
These aircraft are intended to be flagship airliners, yet visually they still feel unfinished — in some cases resembling early development builds. Many in the community have raised these concerns over time, but so far, there’s been little to no communication on whether these issues are acknowledged or under review.
We’re not asking for instant fixes — just a bit of transparency or confirmation that these problems are on the radar. Even a brief update would go a long way in maintaining trust and engagement from the user base.
There may be other aircraft affected by similar issues — feel free to share your observations in the comments. I’m highlighting the 787 and 747 specifically because they were the ones I was most excited for.
Thanks in advance to the team if you’re able to share any updates or timelines.
As Jorg mentioned on this month’s Dev Q&A, he’s still looking for a team to perform the 3D Art work that needs doing on these Working Title aircraft, as WT doesn’t have an Art Team of their own. As a member of a studio myself, I can honestly say excellent 3D teams are hard to come by, we’re lucky to have ours. So I can imagine after the launch results, Jorg’s going to be more picky about who he selects for this. That takes both time and budget.
I just looked at the Dev Q&A and you’re right, he also said he hopes most of them will be fixed by SU3 and the remaining ones a bit later. I can’t wait for these fixes, the models look stunning compared to the ones in 2020 and you can tell they have love put into them. It’s just these bugs that kill the experience.
Thank you for the response.
^Given the following below, I can’t emphasize the disclaimer above enough
In the interests of not fomenting dissent, they will remain anonymous. It’s not hard to guess though - the clues are right there every time you boot the sim.
Suffice it to say, if this was the result and he’s looking for a different team, what conclusions can you draw from that? I leave it up to the audience at this point.
As per today, here’s a collection of my most annoying findings - mainly visual/art wise.
FMD - Thrust Limit page - the aircraft should switch to CRZ instead of sticking on CLB (old bug introduced at some point in MSFS 2020)
wheels steer even when the aircraft is cold and dark and hydraulic system is off (nose and body steering wheels are controlled by electric pump 1)
the rear steering wheels should all turn in the same direction, opposite to the front wheels. Instead, one turns left while the other turns right, or vice versa.
the inboard and outboard ailerons should rotate in the same direction, but the left inboard aileron is actually rotating the wrong way.
spoilers should not deploy all at the same time; typically, the first three outboard panels begin to deploy slightly earlier than the fourth inboard one.
rear wing gears tend to sink into the ground surface
trim air and R isolation button decals are wrongly placed
upper cockpit panel is generally much brighter than the front panel
front panels (MCP+MIP) labels have no lighting + brightness knobs do not work or changes are very weak, hard to spot differences
passenger seatbelt switch makes no sound when turned on or on auto
default cockpit camera position too low
Some cockpit textures like the center windshield post and surrounding structural elements have a slightly off roughness map, and appear excessively reflective.
Nise wheels do not steer to its maximum (70 degrees)
The nose wheel pivot is incorrectly positioned, causing the aircraft to steer not on the front wheel but around an invisible point located closer to the center of the plane than to the nose wheels.
MFD selector (L INBD, LWR CTR, RINBD) lights do not work
After turning off the upper panel lights completely, the L ISLN and R ISLN buttons stay on
Interiors are 100% dark at night. in 2020 at least there were window textures to give the feeling of some life inside
Oh really?
I was tempted to take off with that alert just to see what would happen, but later I restarted the flight and found that requesting a pushback actually clears the 1R door open message.
Unfortunately, just like in 2020, this plane should be a state-of-the-art aircraft, yet it remains one of the most bugged.
Yup, if you search around on the 787, which I fly all the time, you will see there is a likely bug in the AP that prevent capture of the GS on an ILS approach. This came in with SU4.
Also others have long lists for the 787 including poor lighting of instruments at night…. anyway I do not thing these issues are solved. Just require a lot of work.
