747 nose dive on the ILS glide slope

The descent down the glide slope start fine. At about 3 miles from the runway the nose goes sharply down to about 2500 fpm (stops following the vertical glide slope marker) and then it tried to stabilize again. It happened to me in different airports. The last one was LAX (RWY 25L)
Has it happened to anyone else?

ATC routinely gets you too high, and as plane grabs Localizer and Slope, it has to catch up with poor descent from ATC. Two ways to prevent, ignore ATC and use real world rules on approach plate, or turn off ATC and just fly like pilot. I have cold and dark checklist, going to just take chance and post on forum and hopefully moderator will put in tutorials. Its sort of long winded, but we all need more than do this and then do that. It has pictures if they come over. Look of it under title “Checklist for Boeing 747-8i and 787-10 Planes - Cold and Dark Only*” Please test and let me know with message on my handle. I have a much longer winded version, but that is overkill unless you want a lot of knowledge you may not need.

As others have said, IAS should be 155 or so, never slower. I use 160 as it seems to be better.

What was your IAS when this happened? I’ve noticed it gets sketchy below 150 KIAS. I’m not sure if this is a MSFS thing or if the plane is like that IRL. I’d put money on it being a MSFS thing as this is or was an issue with some other aircraft.

As @LostSandmanR35 mentioned, it looks like you were flying too slow.
150kts doesn’t mean anything without knowing the weight and this speed can be easily sufficient at low weight.

Make sure that your speed is quite a bit above the amber band on the speed tape.

I do tend to fly on the heavier side  Makes sense.

As long as you are staying below MLW it’s ok

Check your CG before approach. It might be out of limits.

thanks everyone
I’ve just landed in LAX (24R this time). I kept the speed above 150 kts and indeed, no issues. Is this a bug?

What is the weight of your aircraft during approach and landing? What does it show for your aircraft CG on the weight/balance page? What does the aircraft FMC show for your Vref speed?

If your airspeed is too low, the autopilot won’t be able to keep the plane in the air and on the proper glide slope. Same if the CG is out of range.

No, it’s not a bug. Again, the minimum approach speed depends only on weight.
(and flap setting of course)
Have you checked how far the speed was above the amber area on the speed tape?

No, not bug, plane is extremely heavy, you can search for 747 Weights and info page on BA’s website I would bet. They maxed out one for cargo at over 1 million pounds. Believe off top of head, around 800K pounds gross weight. At an average load according to sim info, TO is around 160 kias. Max Load, would be higher with increased flap setting as well. This is just a large heavy AP.

Charts help this sooooo much. If you know where you’re supposed to be, you can set the speed and altitude correctly. The ATC in-game is mediocre at best. I could care less what it says altitude-wise. Hit the GS around 160, flaps full, and take off the AT in case you want to pull out of your landing. Apply spoilers at touchdown and use reverse thrust to stop. Works every single time. You’ll likely touch down at around 150.
