7950x3d Benchmarks for MSFS 2020

Only kidding. Not :stuck_out_tongue:
What is an external clock generator though? Not that I’m ever going to need to touch one. Plugs into USB or onto the board or sumink?

What it does, to break it down. A 7950x3d as the rest have a bus speed of 100mhz. This chip has a multiplier for both chips, it can go 52.5 on the cache chip, and 57 on the other. So, when you multiply 52.5 x 100 you get your maximum clock speed of 5250MHZ. With an external clock generator, a motherboard feature that every provider has in their top tier boards. allows you to increase your bus speed to increase the frequency. All boards can do BCLK but this will also multiply your memory and your infinity fabric, as well as PCI and this will fry NVME drives. ECLK (External clock) will allow whats called asyncronous mode that will decouple just the CPU. SO your only pushing up the CPU clock. So with my test at a 103MHZ bus speed, you multiply that by 52.5, and 57 and you have what both the chips will run at. If i am scambling your head. I’ll try to make it not as complicated

No I get it now! I had in my minds eye something like this:

…plugged into your tower lol

(For anyone wondering, it’s an atomic clock)

I actually really love your mind brutha, I wish it was that. Or some kind of crazy time travel chronometer

Or this :joy:

That’s it, it was always wrongly named as the flux capacitor. Just be careful, flux capacitors are rumoured to cause Parkinson’s Disease. Yeah, bad sense of humour… you can fault me there

Maybe he was just getting stutters?

And… away we gooooooooooooooooo

Any recommendations for a 5800x3d?

So I take it the Taichi has one of those flux capacitors built in? Hehehe

and…

It sure, does. I’m now stressing at 104mhz bus, about to move to 105… 105x52.5= 5.52GHZ on the cache die

They can also ECLK overclock. But unless you are willing to go deep down the rabbit hole. PBO + undervolt will do it

@Toddimus831 I do envy your chips memory controller… you get to Awe at my amazingly low VID :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, already do -30 and 125 82 135

That’s a great spot man. Not all chips do -30

Looks like I have some work to do. My CPU is getting off too easily. I still need to try 6000 at CL24. 6200 at CL26 is pretty nice though too.

SSSSShtuff, I can only dream about, and… it’s on the table. You kicked my ā– ā– ā– ā–  once… do it again, I dares ya

Yeah, was wondering I could extract something more. Something I notice on my Asus x570 board is that it default to a 36x multiplier and I need to change it to 44.50 in order to boost it to 4450. Don’t know if that’s the way to do it…

I’m not familiar with your board, but if you can change the multiplier, do so with caution, and extra voltages
