A bang on review. It’s not all bad but it definitely ain’t good…

I suspect what a major portion of people think. Worth a watch.

I just watched that video, I have to agree with everything he said. A very well framed review :+1:

Yes, he’s very fair, and “bang on the money” as he says

Gotta say Reggie is spot on in his assessment of 2024.

Quite a colorful language , but yeah, spot on.

I love the colorful language and he’s so spot on it’s hard to not burst out laughing. Had to subscribe.

Heh that’s what she said… Epic tickety boo

Watched it and thought it was well done. He hit the highs and the lows quite nicely. I think the title was to “grab some attention”. He probably should have titled it " The good, the bad and the ugly"

Honestly I believe it became an arcade game, all the features have been introduced have nothing to do with a simulation and as a simulator is less accurate at this stage compared to the previous release.

To be quite honest with you, Microsoft Flight Sims have always aimed to be casual, simplistic and gamified. Unlike P3D and X-plane.

and the hobby was dying. People who used P3D are literally dying of old ages. It was impossible to find any sim related hardware. The hobby was full of elitist gatekeeping. Is that the world we want to go back too ?

MSFS has brought Flight simulation to the casuals and because of that, maybe there will be more people wanted to be pilot one day. We all start casuals. I remember starting with a X360 controller. Now I got a triple screen setup and tons of hardware.

I don’t want to go back to the dark times of P3D. This is the golden era of flight simming and there is room for everyone. Whether you just like the photography mode or you like the Fenix/Vatsim combo.

True, but it was not so evident in my opinion. Now is only for career, missions, snapshots…basically xbox stuff only

Well and is not my hobby anymore. The 2020 was a good compromise in my opinion and probably the best would have been to introduce the arcade part as extra contents, making everybody happy. But in this way they were not making the same amount of money, simple as that

Seriously?! The improved flight model, ground model, soft body physics, turbulence model, clouds, flight planner, walk around etc. etc.? These are examples of a more gamey approach?!

well I honestly don’t know where you see all these improvements with the basic aircraft that are available at the moment

Free flight is still available and it’s greatly improved on a lot of different aspect that only matters to hardcore players. If you only look for negative in life, it’s all you will find. Having an extra mode, does not remove anything from you. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you.

ok, fair enough

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that FS24 didn’t add anything for serious simmers that was not already in MSFS2020, and that all of the additions were for casual simmers and gamers. Is that right? If so, you have a point. And it might not be worth the upgrade, especially with all the bugs and flaws.
However, even a hardcore simmer like me can enjoy the higher fidelity scenery graphics while ignoring the gaming elements. I live my life in the Free Flight zone.

You know the Fenix / the FBW A380 / InBuild A300-600R and the JF Avro RJ are all 2024 compatible if you want a more substantial experienced. right ? Personally, I find the all the IniBuild aircraft pretty good.
