Anyone can complain, constructive criticism is not everyone’s cup of tea on the other hand. In today’s era if instant gratification, unfortunately most of us have lost sight of the fact. People constantly complaining feel it is their right since they paid the $$. Everyone on the forum has paid for the sim, no one got it free - and no one is telling them to not write it off as a bad decision either.
Give them some time and then we will see. What will be the expectations from a company launching, supposedly path breaking car say, after they stopped producing cars for a while and came back to business after more than a decade?
Agreed, Asobo/Microsoft are doing their best and there needs to be less arguing and negativity, but i guess its also pretty normal for an internet forum in all reality.
It’s really frustrating to log on and just see post after post of things like ‘I give up’. A lot of these posts are the same thing over and over again. It really does make it hard to have any sort of constructive level headed discussion, bug reporting etc.
I absolutely have my frustrations too, but I’m patiently waiting for fixes which will inevitably come. The sim is by no means “broken”. I’m unhappy with the A320 and 787 at the moment, so I’m doing so much GA VFR flying and its amazing.
I think the mod team deserves a lot more praise than what they’re probably getting. Kudos mods.
Couldn’t agree more and testament to patience with other sims are things like CTD guide on Avsim for example, very laborious and painstaking work. Patience sirs, patience.
Bear with me on that one.
I am at the moment confining my flying activities to the very local.
These I am using to fine tune and re-program my equipment.
It is when some of the more critical bugs are addressed that I intend to break out haha.
It’s the same peolle and we all know who they are that go into all threads and just critics rand bash them insult Asobo/Microsoft daily and try and get threads locked.
Perfect example there was a sad little troll a few nights ago I won’t mention names but some of you know who I am talking about who tried to troll me on these forums.
He even went as far as to change his display picture to match mien which I changed again. He then went into my post history and started bringing back months old threads I made just to troll me again. How sad and pathetic one person must be. Thankfully the mods dealt with him but just goes to show how sad peolle are to waste there time to try and troll others.
Rule of thumb if you see anyone troll just flag and report
I don’t think you could be any further from the truth.
I have poured a lot of money in to previous simulators, along with various payware addons along the way. And you know what? I’ll probably do it all again when they’re finally released for MFS.
I don’t want MFS to go away. Why would people want that?
What I want is a well functioning simulator. Something that is at least baselined to where the previous generation currently sits. Right now, its not cutting the mustard for me. Visually supurb yes (and so it should be, it’s 2020) but theres a lot of other things still lacking that reduce my enjoyment of the simulator (weather depiction, bugs, engine management etc.)
A lot are quick to jump on the ‘everyone just complains about everything’ bandwagon. Sure, there’s a few bad eggs out there (at least 9 going by a previous comment in this thread) but there’s also a lot of us that just want this simulator to be what it is meant to be, and are frustrated/disappointed/annoyed/deflated that it isn’t in a lot of aspects.
On my very first post in the wishlist, I got blasted repeatedly for the silliness of my idea. After having to sign up and read the Code of Conduct, I was stunned by people’s conduct on this forum. It’s disgusting.
Btw. What I’ve seen and considered really sad is what I already mentioned in somewhere.
One of my popular sites focused on IT and HARDWARE news transformed completely into the trolling place. Two of their most productive editors / news writers are also continuosly and visibly supporting trolling within discussions undert their articles. If there is anyone who disagrees with their opinions stated within their articles, they support trolls. The site is clearly polarized to be “amd gods against intel / nvidia fools”. Despite of if one brand is better than other or not, this behavior is simply unfair and unacceptable. They are making money on their site selling ADs on every “hot news intel blaming sensation” article…
Trolls are people, too. They most likely have deeply-rooted personality disorders that may or may not be their fault. By stooping to their level and engaging with them, you perpetuate the attention-seeking drama they seek, which feeds their disorder even further. Ignore them. If it really bothers you, report or block them. We know who they are, and fortunately there aren’t many here. Let’s just have fun and be kind!
And some trolls are smart. Like an abusive partner in an relationship, if they feel ignored, or think you may leave, they draw you back in with kind and useful words, then start the abuse all over again. We certainly have a few of those here. It’s all about their need for power and attention. Don’t fall for that one either. And you can be sure they wouldn’t do this face-to-face. They hide behind the anonymity of the Internet.
But criticism can also be constructive as well when it’s well evidenced and factual, and should be taken on board. Years ago I recall a statement from an organisation that stated that “we will respond to well founded criticism with a willingness to change” and that still holds merit to this day in my opinion.
I’m sure Asobo absolutely welcome constructive feedback and also criticism where it’s due because it can help effect real change and improvement, however what will shouting at a wall actually achieve, or having expressed an opinion, then use any thread and avenue to carry on doing it? Does that really garner support, or merely disdain?
Additionally, when people start generalising and incorrectly labelling their problem as everyone’s problem, or their expectations as everbody’s expectations, who does that really benefit?
It’s nice of you to be concerned about Asobo/MSFT but I wouldn’t. They’re professionals and have undoubtedly learned long ago that user forums are a dangerous place to go.
This forum is like a crowd cheering and booing an entertainer. It’s distracting but there is so much noise it’s hard to pick up the signals. The mods provide input to dev but the people who decide priorities do this for a full time job (at least). They get input from many, many (too many?) sources. They are not uninformed nor deaf. They have way more at stake than $120.
A user forum is not democracy in action. At most 1% of users make it to the forum and usually have very strong opinions which makes them noisy. Unfortunately folks expect action and get frustrated when it doesn’t happen on their schedule. Worse, 50k+ tickets have been filed with zendesk. Even if they are twice as good as the average post here they are pretty useless bug reports. Like sifting through garbage looking for treasure.
It seems a bit turbulent now but look for blue skies. There is so much to enjoy today and it only gets better.
It might be easier to ignore trolls than partners in relationship, simply because you usually don’t really share your life with them. But yes, some of trolls are really smart. Some of them for example run well-visited internet sites / social network pages with lot of ads that help them survive. They are also sometimes organized in groups to gain more power.
Actually, from where I sit, these forums are fine! You always get a ‘mix’ of posters, just ignore the ones you don’t like. A lot of us have ‘been down this road’ before…remember the launch of FSX? Aces Studios tried their best to keep users informed, and got trashed so bad they finally gave it up and stopped posting…the ‘good ol days’.
