Old Steam install suddenly asked for xbox account: Lost my profile, all my settings and presets

I’ve been using using MSFS almost daily since its launch (bought it on Steam, Nov 5th, 2020). Yesterday, starting the simulator, all of a sudden it started asking me to log into xbox. There’s no way to avoid it, so that’s what I did. Now, I lost everything: my profile with over 1000 hours logged, my settings and especially my joystick presets!
