A new update forces MSFS 2020 in a download loop

Hi,

I had a working installation of MSFS 2020, from my Steam library and I may have not plaid for a few days. Today when I went for it, it tells me there is a mandatory update. In the process of installing the update the first file the updater downloads is microsoft-airport-logi-trieben-1.0.2.fspackage which is 380 MB. At the end of it, instead of decompressing it, it restarts the download. I tried to fully uninstall MSFS 2020 and reinstalling it again to no avail, same problem with the same file (which is the first file it tries to download).

Any idea?

You could try shutting the sim down, removing all the partial downloads, or partial extracted ones, and deleting the entire “microsoft-airport-logi-trieben” folder, then relaunch the sim to see if that fixes it.

It could be struggling to upgrade an existing install. Removing it from disk entirely may help with that.

I Deleted all the flight simulator directory and it did not help, where is the “microsoft-airport-logi-trieben” folder? where is the partial downloads directory supposed to be?

For me the full path to that folder is:

“D:\Flight Simulator\Official\OneStore\microsoft-airport-logi-trieben”

I do not have that directory, I must have deleted it when I uninstalled the program and then delete the Flight simulator directory. I am still hunting for the partial downloads directory

BTW, I am getting MSFS from Steam

Okay, but there should be a similar relative path. Find within the Steam structure the MSFS installation folder, and drill down into that until you see something like this:

If you can see these items, then you’ve found the root of the MSFS content. That airport folder should be in this location.

I’m not sure if you get an option to install MSFS in a non-default location, but if you did that it could be anywhere. Mine is in “D:\Flight Simulator”, for example.

as I mentioned, I also uninstalled the program and deleted the Flight simulator directory to see if a new fresh install would work and instead it does not. So If I start fresh I do not have that directory structure

I tried to download it to a different HD and there it would work, so I re formatted the original drive (an M.2 one) and then it worked. That was the solution I found.
