A question for Private Pilots based in London, UK

One of my British amateur astronomy friends actually said the same thing. :stuck_out_tongue:

On a good day (good visibility) , we used to do “parallel take offs” with the big guys at Heathrow

we certainly “walked away from it”
This was where I landed, just outside Chorleywood

I fly from Denham. Lovely airfield.

I chose to complete my PPL training there back in 2005 because:

a) Short (ish) runway
b) Beneath Heathrow CTR and London TMA
c) Nice atmosphere
d Good choice of aircraft to train on
e) Close to my home in West London

I don’t need to file a flightplan unless I’m intending to fly IFR. I normally plan a VFR route using the special Denham waypoints in and out of the circuit. These are via Chalfont St Giles and Maple Cross.

The Denham circuit is at 750ft QFE because of the Heathrow airspace above us. Great place to train if you want more of a challenge in your flying.

Hope this helps!

I can’t remember her name but was your incident while training with that great Irish female instructor from TPC?

I flew with her occasionally. Excellent pilot.

I didn’t fly with the great Irish female instructor my instructor was a local cop
Just checked the hourly rates for a C152 on their page and it makes me weep - glad we have MSFS now - a LOT cheaper
