A question in the air

Hello friends.

I am a pilot in real life and have used a simulator for training and planning my flights since FS 5.0, that is, 27 years ago. I followed the development of this fantastic hobby and was extremely excited when I heard the news of Microsoft’s return to the simulator market.
I bought the Premium Deluxe version in the pre sale and after installing the FS2020 I was enchanted with the beautiful images that the simulator was providing me, despite the performance of the machine being very bad because I use various equipment from Saitek and then I learned about the simconnect problem.

After patch 1, the simconnect problem solved, the software started to run smooth and fluid and I found myself in the sky, literally, with stunning images and magnificent performance! Everything perfect? Of course not, but only operational problems or other details that could be remedied without so much work or insurmountable difficulties. The base was already made, and by the way. I already have a lot of experience in simulation and I know how it is … I just had to tune in, I thought. However after patch 2 update, my disappointment was total. The images that now appear, look nothing like the previous version. I was in doubt thinking that my memory was betraying me and that I had not seen what I thought I had. Yesterday, after watching a video on Youtube, of a flight in Saint Denis - Réunion Island - FMEE and seeing the photogrammetric images, I was curious to fly there to see what it would be like on my computer. To my disappointment, I found that my version of the FS2020 is not exactly the same as that of others who posted videos about this island. The solo textures and terrain mesh that I see on YouTube videos are completely different from what I see here. I now have a simulator that looks more like FSX or P3D with ORBX textures. The terrain mesh leaves the mountains looking like melted ice cream. A tragedy!

Asobo needs to tell us what is going on and what to do to change this. Are there different versions of the FS2020? If so, what are the criteria used to deliver one version or the other to each user? My computer is not so bad, so much that I’m getting an average of 40 fps in this version I received, with settings from high to ultra and would give up much of that performance to have better images! I actually need that. I actually demand that!

With great disappointment, I leave the floor to Mrs. Asobo!

Yay, yet another one of these.

There’s already threads for it; just post in those, please. :small_airplane: :smiley_cat:

Hi @Ricardo20209207

Threads in the ‘Bugs and Issues’ should look to address a single issue with the simulator, with the hopes of finding and sharing workarounds, and to help users better understand what might be going on so they can file detailed formal bug reports on Zendesk.

Because your post doesn’t seem to fit this purpose, I have moved it to #community:general-discussion-feedback, as I believe you will get better feedback in that category.

Regarding the issue of scenery quality, please check your graphic settings. Some of my settings seemed to be lower after the patch, this may cause some of your issues. Furthermore, I saw a post somewhere (possibly on the known issues list) that suggest you delete your cache file to improve scenery.

Hi,

Sorry to read about your doubts. Guess we’ve all got 'em.
And to be honest I am quite the wrong person to advise you here.
However, have you checked for any changes to your graphics settings [in my case NVIDIA Control Panel]. Because, via the Win 10 feature ‘Game Mode’, it has been intimated that MS may change these settings at patch time.
I have never bothered to check the veracity of this because I have always turned off all ‘game mode’ functionality, choosing instead to make any ‘Control Panel’ changes myself, manually.

Hopefully someone in possession of the facts re this topic will come to your rescue.
If not perhaps I have pointed you - cautiously - in the right direction.

Good luck.

Thank you for your post. Many of us are disappointed with Asobo’s communication and output so far. From development roadmaps that have one-word descriptions, to patches that cause as many bugs as they fix, it has been a very rocky month.

I don’t know if this is helpful for your situation, but for me every time there’s a patch my GeForce Experience thinks it’s a new game and it resets the settings to “optimal” which is code for “really low”. I change it back to about 3/4, update a couple settings in game (I keep notes on a piece of paper handy) and I’m good to go.
