A serious suggestion if I may

I know this may seem radical, but just close these forums down for a bit and let Asobo get on with things.

The amount of dissenting opinions on here just now is bonkers, if person A hates something there will always be a B that likes it, sometimes just to be contrary and cause a rucus, some folk thrive on forum posts, here there and everywhere.

We’ve all put our Oar in already and seen Asobo … perhaps trying to appease some folk who did not like pre patch night lighting rendition change it to glitter mode … I mean, honestly, this is a waste of their resources, it was fine before, not perfect perhaps? but there are far more important issues need attention than this they need to be addressing.

The amount of times I’ve seen the the words “Sepia Mask” bandied about and used out of context the last day or so is borderline comical, suddenly we have experts on it though

We have hundreds upon hundreds of newer, often young guys swarming here who have never done this type of sim in their entire lives but have been enticed by the awesome graphics and have never really seen good night lighting in a sim, far from flown in a real GA Aircraft relativity slowly too on a night flight … they are a fair market too, as is the forthcoming console release … all are welcome.

There is a fantastic opportunity here for everyone.

What we had originally from Asobo was so core good, but I think now they are concentrating on stuff now that are not the real issues we all want from this sim going forward? Losing the press any key issue, massive breakthrough, hardly, but it seems like they are listening to masses of trivial stuff rather than concentrating on what should be done.

But with so much division on these forums between old school and new school, would it not be a good idea to close forums down for a bit and let Asobo concentrate on the core sim aspects without us public crying for their own personal change day after day and distrascting their focus?

Let them develop a core sim to the best of their ability, slowly adding solid features like VR, DX12, Helicopters, Gliders and even old school proper missions as they promised.

Perhaps maintain a few core trusted testers before releasing major revisions? Not me, there are plenty of knowledgeable sim guys would volunteer am sure.

What we have here was a good idea, but out of control now IMHO, half the folk don’t know what they want and its all become fragmented … we need Focus for this project please.

Leave the fine tuning to third party’s like ORBX, Aerosoft and more please, get the core sim working and we’ll all be happy bunnys, that was a successful formula before and can be again IMHO.

We have a good looking sim here already, fantastic lighting in cockpit and lots more, but there are other partners waiting in the wings to make it even better.

Not a bad suggestion. But they would need to roll it back to what they had August 18 and start from there. Then work from that starting point in relative seclusion, based on the11 weeks experience so far. But the current approach is not working efficiently, forever fixing fixes will cause them to lose the plot.

I don’t see what benefit closing the forums would have.

A) the resources require to run the forum are separate
B) who knows if Asobo spend any time reading this stuff. I think they just take what they want/need if at all
C) it smacks of stifling debate/freedom to voice opinion
[EDIT]
and D) as others have said below and probably most important, this forum is the most valuable resource for people struggling to get the sim to work, to share ideas..after all its not as if they gave us a manual with this thing!

I dont agree at all. I think this is an essential platform to help people out. I now ignore all the negative nonsense and try and help those with genuine inquiries.

I would totally agreed with you to put in hold the forum for a but if we haven’t paid £120 for unfinished product advertised as a completely solid software plus the money that most of us we’ve spent for new PCs within a month.
I don’t agree with the use of inappropriate language from few guys though. You are right on that but having a official forum which clients (us) can express their disappointment about a product they bought and other trying to find solutions about software bugs won’t help developing at all. Some companies call it after sale service, some others support. In the country which I’m coming from having the right to express your opinion, positive or negative is called democracy (we invented it) as long that doesn’t offending anyone.
Microsoft and Asobo had enough time in the past to completed their software and if wasn’t enough they shouldn’t have released it so soon.
If I do a messy job I will be told off and not get paid from my clients.
There are consequences for our actions in this life.

Hi all

Thanks for the civilised discourse in this thread. Normally I would avoid making a blanket statement without first consulting a community manager, but I feel pretty confident that these forums will not be shut down.

After all, they provide a platform for community discourse, to gather feedback, and to provide guides and information for less experienced users.

Our goal is to maintain a healthy environment for discussions, and community involvement. To help us achieve this goal we ask our users to follow the Code of Conduct.

With a little bit of understanding, and empathy we can make these forums a valuable asset for the community.

I hope you are Greek, or I’ll be disputing your claim below:

democracy (we invented it)

Yes. I’m Greek. Good guess!:slightly_smiling_face:

Fair play guys, it was just a suggestion would never have happened anyway I know.

Many folk love forum life, enjoy it too from time to time.

But perhaps let Asobo stop pandering to some of our stupid wish lists … the losing any key fix springs to mind here … just cut them some slack and and let them work in peace for the core features we all really want, we are all split on the night lighting fix that nobody needed and as the days and weeks go on if we are stuck with this fix, its going to have a detrimental effect on here, we have a colossal amount of members all shouting for their own little fix at times, if Asoba try to continue chasing these little rabbits and appeasing them, nothing will get done for the important features we’ve been promised DX12 VR ETC

We have good partners onboard just waiting for the word to make night lighting better, provide better weather, land class and more as a choice, Aircraft too, to expect Asobo to nail everything is asking the impossible of them and must put tremendous pressure on them too, what we have as a core sim is fantastic, let them develop the core sim further with Helicopters, Gliders DX12, VR and more.

And you invented the “forum” too I believe.

Shame there’s not much decorum in the forum at times, but I suspect behaviour wouldn’t have been much different in Ancient Greece to how it is in 21st Century cyberland!

I totally agree great suggestion.

It was nauseating to see Asobo change the press any key just because the rants of some people

I’m not sure they wasted as much development time on it as people seem to think they did. The developers said quite publicly that they already skipped the key internally, so it was a simple matter of making that publicly available for us. An easy win as it were.

Understood thanks for the reply

You are right. There isn’t much decorum in the forum at times and that’s what I’m saying in my post. I don’t agree at all with the lack of decorum anywhere in this world.

Difficult to explain to you in 5mins chatting how the situation in Ancient Greece was 2.500 years ago. You sould have done your studies when you were in school and it’s not relative to our subject in this forum.

In my world everyone has the right to have and express it’s opinion and I respect yours as well !
