The facts speak for themselves. Whatever causes MP releases to be behind other store releases is kind of irrelevant. It’s quite obviously a more problematic process overall for devs. Facts show other stores are almost always before MP and in several cases by a significant amount of time. It’s now been over 6 weeks since the native 24 Comanche launched on the A2A store.
There are some that like to defend the MP from this criticism but it’s prolonged poor record is plain for all to see.
Unfortunately, Xbox users have no other options. I purchased the Comanche (and a few other items) from the marketplace because I travelled frequently and took my Xbox with me. Otherwise, I would have purchased direct for my PC, which also would benefit the developer (no middle store) and me (speed/availability of future updates).
I’m fully aware of that. The bit you fail to acknowledge is why it takes them longer for MP. So yes defending the MP when the MP is the only differentiating factor tends to get called out.
I laid out the difference in my last post. One is the MP one is not. It’s really as simple as that. As others have said whatever is involved in getting it to that store front obviously involves more hurdles and every hurdle is a potential fall.
Is it true that A2A doesn’t allow transfers of Marketplace purchases? I tried to research but couldn’t find anything. IIRC I bought the Comanche from the FS2020 marketplace because it was on sale once, otherwise I would’ve bought direct (as I did with the Aerostar).
I think they’re referring to accessing the 2024-native update for the Comanche, which was released from A2A a while ago but they have not approved it for the Marketplace yet for reasons unknown.
You will have it in 2020 and 2024 msfs. Sorry for the confusion I was just mentioning that it would be good if we could switch our marketplace purchase to A2A store purchase, just so we get updates quicker. But this is not possible.
It’s a nice gesture from devs that offer this transfer but realistically what’s in it for them to do it. They get significantly less from the buyer for a MP sale than their own web store. So by allowing a transfer they are essentially taking a reduced profit for the benefits of buying direct.
I’m afraid to say that if you make a bad buying decision that’s on you. Learn the lesson and support the devs by buying direct in the first place where that’s offered.
Good will, a potentially faithful customer, a customer who will most likely buy their next (or other) product directly.
How do I know this?
Because I am one of those who has done this with various products/vendors.
And we all don’t have a choice to avoid the MP. Repeatedly, Xbox users overlooked by PC users who forget they have only one choice for their purchases. Those of us that started on Xbox and moved to PC are sometimes looking for ways to move our purchases elsewhere, because that is finally an option open to us.
The Xbox thing is not overlooked by me. I’m very aware of it actually and I’ve seen you mention this several times before. With the boot on the other foot though, Xbox users often fail to mention they are on Xbox when looking for support or asking questions and can get funny when a suggested solution is presented that they can’t utilise.
That’s a platform choice for the individual user as it is for the very small minority like yourself that have swapped. Whilst the good will is indeed a factor I was purely talking from a financial perspective. They still need to live and considering the setup and administration, this may be a valid reason why not all of them offer it.
