A2A Simulations Announces the Legacy RG550

A2A Simulations Announces the Accu-Sim Legacy RG550

Coming Q2 2026

We’re proud to announce the next aircraft joining the A2A fleet: the Accu-Sim Legacy RG550, scheduled for release in Q2 2026. For the first time, A2A will be bringing a high-performance experimental kit-built aircraft to the Accu-Sim fleet.

The Legacy RG550 is a sleek, fast, efficient, and deeply personal. As a kit-built aircraft, no two examples are truly identical. Each carries the character and craftsmanship of its builder. That individuality makes it a perfect match for Accu-Sim’s philosophy of ownership and persistence.

This particular Legacy RG550 is based on a real aircraft owned and flown by A2A Simulation founder Scott Gentile for a number of years, giving us the same level of real-world reference and familiarity that shaped the Comanche 250 and the Aerostar 600.

It slots naturally into the fleet alongside the Accu-Sim Comanche 250 and Accu-Sim Aerostar 600, expanding the lineup into the world of high-performance composite experimentals while maintaining the realism A2A is known for.

Accu-Sim 2.0 No Shortcuts

The Accu-Sim Legacy RG550 will be built on our existing Accu-Sim 2.0 technology featuring:

• Fully custom flight physics

• Completely bespoke sound design

• Persistent wear and ownership modelling

• Multiple avionics configurations including fully custom Garmin G5 simulation that we also expect to be retrofitted to the Comanche and Aerostar

• Laserscanned and Photogrammetry assisted 3d modelling

• Deep electrical and systems simulation

• A highly detailed engine simulation model, down to individual spark events during combustion

The Accu-Sim Legacy RG550 represents a new chapter for A2A: a modern experimental aircraft with real personality, built with the same commitment to realism and depth as every aircraft before it.

Very, very excited for this. Day one purchase from me!

Huge disappointment, I was hoping for a warbird. I’ll skip this, like the previous one.

Why does this strike me as an odd choice?

I don’t know enough about this aircraft, but what does it bring that is going to be a significantly different GA experience to what A2A already has on offer?

Likewise, I was hoping for something fairly different. However, I’m open minded about it since I’m so unfamiliar with it, as stated.

So you want a Warbird but you’re not going to purchase the Aerostar or the RG550 from A2A to help fund it?

They’ve said numerous times that everything from purchased products goes directly into funding towards future Aircraft, without funding from purchases they wouldn’t be able to carry on with these projects. I’m not saying you’ve got to purchase anything but.?.fwiw I also wanted a warbird and I have got the Comanche and Aerostar just to support any future projects (I will grab the RG550, even though I won’t fly it much just to support )

This is a ridiculous take, vote with your wallet. I was an avid A2A supporter when they did warbirds for FSX, I have yet to purchase a MSFS release from them since I am less interested in their GA releases. If they decide to do another warbird I will be happy to support them again. A2A is doing just fine without me.

Im excited for it and it’ll be a day 1 purchase for sure. I would’ve liked to see a warbird or classic airliner as well but this is certainly different from their other GA offerings.

IMHO there won’t be any Warbird projects without sales of their already available GA. Each too there own of course

Correct. I desperately want an A2A-level B-17. The P-51 would be a nice start toward that goal (heck, they go together like peas and carrots  ). I have the Comanche as my GA plane of choice. I am not interested in the Aerostar enough to justify buying it, and I am not made of money so I have to pick and choose.

I would pound the drum for A2A if they got back into warbirds, but this doesn’t really do anything for me. More power to you of course, and I’m sure they appreciate the support, but not all of us are in a position to pay premium prices for products we aren’t intent on using.

If the AI (hack, gag, retch) summary is correct, its 276 mph cruising speed is certainly interesting.

Absolutely fair comment, I rarely fly the Aerostar because the Comanche is that good, I was lucky the missus asked what I wanted for my birthday a few months back and I chose the Aerostar because..

I love A2A,s support and professionalism and their craft are just works of art. I’d never tell folk what to spend their hard earned money on, I simply posed a question “ So you want a Warbird but you’re not going to purchase the Aerostar or the RG550 from A2A to help fund it?“ I’m saying without support with sales from their GA aircraft then a Warbird may never happen. I’m assuming a really complex Warbird I’d take a hell of a lot of development time and resources?

I do see what you’re saying, and hope I didn’t come off defensive. It’s just that’s not an option for everyone. I also love A2A, and would love to see them come back to warbirds. Have they made any statements about returning to warbirds? Genuine question. I’ve gotten the impression that they are more or less content within the confines of the GA market.

I guess it’s a bit chicken or the egg, right? Like, I don’t want to waste money in hopes that they will get back into warbirds, but if they don’t see enough support overall they may not do it either. I guess it comes down to clear communication and stated future goals from A2A, which I’m not entirely sure of at this point.

I do agree that it’s a bit of an odd choice. I would have thought that if they want to fund future projects, bringing one of their previously developed aircraft for FS9/FSX up to MSFS2024 standards would be a surefire way to earn some development funds.

Their 172 or PA-28 would make a killing. It just seems a bit backwards to go for the niche aircraft first and let their moneymakers sit collecting dust in the closet.

There’s no doubt that every aircraft they do publish is of the highest quality imaginable - that’s not up for debate. Just wish that they would focus on some of the more “popular” GA aircraft, because they’re popular for a reason.

Absolutely valid points made mate, I totally agree with you it’s not an option for everyone, I would have grabbed the Aerostar eventually I was lucky that it fell around my birthday couldn’t think what I wanted so had it then , but absolutely understandable.

Again I agree with the chicken and egg comment, the problem Is A2A are usually very secretive and kept a tight lid on their upcoming projects . I guarantee they’ve already got a couple if not maybe 3 craft already in their sights going forward.. I’ll quote from Facebook about an hour ago

From Mr Cyril Gmmn

A2A Simulations we needs the p51, p40 and b17 in msfs with accusim 2, please

A2A,s response

Cyril Grmn If enough people buy the existing fleet it gets us closer to those

It’s a double edged sword ain’t it , but yeah I’m also hoping and praying for a warbird from A2A pal

I’ll be honest I was expecting the 182 :+1:

The 182 would be great to have.

Regarding this comment, on the A2A forum they said that they were hoping to release 1, but up to 2 aircraft this year. #1 is this RG550 obviously, but it’s good to know they have a 2nd aircraft in active development that has even a potential of releasing in 2026.

Single engine 4 stroke , 6 cylinder piston, 276mph cruise speed this thing is fast.

I’m okay with this do us a 182 Next please A2A, make a packet on it and then hopefully give us the warbird we crave :+1:

Thrilled and relieved it’s not a ‘warbird’, disappointed that it’s something someone else is also doing.
