I was gifted an hour in Ascents fixed base A320 sim which is a 1:1 representation and includes a number of real airbus parts (at least the windscreens and the sidestick)
This sim uses Prosim as the base software (as does the Fenix 320) for systems and flight model. Visuals are a bit more basic than MSFS however perfectly adequate for the purpose.
The sim is regularly used by airline crew for preparation and brush up sessions.
With my sim instructor we started with a short flight from Tenerife North (GCXO) to a manual ILS into Tenerife South (GCTS). We followed that up with a couple of different approaches into Funchal (LPMA) which in the real world requires a specific endorsement/captain only landing. Then a manually flown intercept to ILS into Vagar (EKVG) in the Faroe Islands (a tricky destination). Finally we did a manual approach into Paro (VQPR) in Bhutan which turned into a touch and go with a climb out towards Mt Everest.
As a PC sim pilot of around 40 years it was both familiar and different, the wrap around visuals offer a different perspective from the PC screen and it took a short time to dial that in especially on approach.
All in a very enjoyable experience and something I would recommend to anyone with an interest in this hobby, I have bought a voucher to go back and fly the 737 next time.
