Hi I have not found where can I post this but I hope someone will see this. So I comment on the topic above in this post. MSFS 40th Anniversary Xbox Series X, bought from Microsoft Store
A320v2 Autopilot does not engage after take off, goes in circles, takes random attitude, sets vertical speed on its own, stalls and does not fly correctly.
I set the autopilot altitude as 11.000ft for example, speed and vertical speed as shown on the screenshot but you can see that they are not followed at all, and autopilot, auto thrurst, APU are on.
I have watched the tutorials on YT and tried to fix it by setting on the autopilot only after 1700ft and after I put the plane stable, it does still not work
My discord is penguin_99308 if you want to help because I might not see the notification here.
A few things I notice from the screenshot are no vertical or lateral modes are shown on the PFD because you don’t have the flight director (FD button) enabled. AP will not engage if FD is off, as the FD gives the AP a pitch and roll target to follow.
There may be other things wrong, too, that I can’t see in the screenshot due to low resolution. Also a shot of the upper panel may be needed.
Hi, I tried to turn the FD button before the autopilot alongside all the other things but it seems like a bug for A320 specifically. The A320neo did not want to turn into throttle and reversed automatically on the runway, so I think there is something wrong systematically. However the A310 for example works perfectly, so the A320 looks to be bugged for some reason. I found plenty of other examples where the A320 had issues so good to know I’m not the only one experiencing this.
I can’t agree. I’ve flown it several times without issues like this, so there is something on your end that needs to be found.
Perhaps you have some controller bindings that are impacting your throttles. I assume you calibrated throttles in the EFB?
In your EICAS messages, you still have your parking brake on which I hope was off when you took off and you still have your engine ignition on, which should be turned off after engine start. You also still have APU bleed on. APU and APU bleed should be off after engine start. None of these things would impact autopilot, but they are indications to me that there are other settings you likely have configured wrong.
You’re going to need to spend some time going slowly through checklists and/or watching a flight tutorial to find out where in the process you are missing something.
Or, include more screenshots here of your PFD/MFD, MCDU settings, mode control panel, etc, etc…
The plane is completely flyable without these issues, so I’m sure you will be able to get to the same point with some work. Folks here will help if you keep providing more info.
Okay thank you for the feedback, I will try to run through the checklists and set it up once again. By the way when I press RB + right stick on controller and the systems set up instantly, as I see I still need to tweak it by myself in order to follow the instructions?
Hello Penguin!
I too am having problems with the stock A320 auto pilot. I will have it flying along nicely at altitude between waypoints when it decides to wander off course.
Points to note:
1 A/P is still engaged, A/P light is illuminated and the PFD shows it to be in NAV MODE.
2 the flight director button is on and illuminated.
3 selected mode doesn’t work for heading.
4 selected mode does not work for altitude or vertical speed
4 turning A/P off then on again does not work.
5 made sure the MCDU flight plan matches world flight plan.(I don’t use simbrief or other 3rd party planners) without any discontinuences
6 experimented with bumping my flight stick to see if it disconnects the A/P , it doesn’t.
7 watched many many videos on setting up the MCDU correctly. Pretty sure im doing it correctly. Same for the EFIS.
8 I only fly 2 different routes.
9 strangely, I have had one or two successful flights.
10 only 6 simple mods in my community folder, but left them in.
Sooo, yes something strange is going on and we are not the only ones having trouble.
I am going to try again, and again.
Since this isn’t an issue that affects a lot of installations, you should confirm that this isn’t something unique to you, and if so, could that be a result of a mod conflict from one of those few that you do have.
Try the sim in Safe Mode, see if the issue still occurs.
My latest experience.
Tried a flight from cylw(Kelowna BC Canada) to cyyc ( Calgary Alberta Canada) same setup as the day before, no luck on either flight.
Then tried from cylw to cyvr (Vancouver BC Canada). Flight director on then A/P on and the plane just wanders off . Turn FD off , turn A/P off and manually fly plane back close to flight plan turned A/P on leave FD OFF and the plane followed the plan right to runway.
Back to another try from cylw to cyyc.
Left the FD OFF, manually flew the plane to approximately 7000 ft , plane close to flight path, turned on A/P and lo and behold, the plane followed the flight plan perfectly.
I will experiment a little more, I’m not really upset about it as my preference is helicopters.
