A340 landing in Antarctica

I’m at work now, but thought I’d share an interesting video of the first A340 to land at Wolfsfang runway 17T in Antarctica , on blue glacial ice.

I’m eager to see if this is in the sim, or just type in the lat longs and maybe be able to find it.

Interesting, looks like standard tires? Is the ice just packed down enough that special landing equipment isn’t necessary?

Meh. 737 landed there 2 years ago.

Most of the aircraft that land at Mc Murdo Station are wheeled aircraft. The ANG fly the C17’s to Mc Murdo and the Kiwi’s fly the A320 occasionally. The runways there are packed blue ice. The skiway at South Pole Station is ungroomed and requires skiied aircraft. Basler’s and C-130’s usually.
