Am I missing something or are Victor airways and Jetway routes currently missing from the navigation systems (all the Garmins’). I’m very much an amateur flight sim player but was trying to plot a cross country IFR route and cant seem to see an ability to hop into an airway after hitting a particular VOR or waypoint that intersects it.
at least in the 787, even if you have airways in the plan, they won’t show up in the FMS and it’s not going to fly them :\
Yup that’s what i meant, you must plan via the world map, and you can’t do this in the plane as usual.
Hi Ed
May I suggest using either Navigraph (payware) and Simbrief to plan you trips. Both are great programs. You can insert Airways, Waypoints into the Simbrief flight plan if you don’t like the auto route it selects. Download to your Download directory, then load into FS2020. I’ve found the FMC Flight plan on MSFS2020 to be buggy. Direct GPS seems to work ok on most A/C.

Yup! I use SimBrief and Navigraph regularly. I’ve found that importing flight plans externally like this is the only way for this to work.
I do enjoy the setup of a flight though, and like to enter stuff manually. I don’t know If like it enough to enter every single waypoint on a long flight though, thats usually where the Airway entry comes in handy.
I realize these are default aircraft, but Just didn’t know if others were having luck with manual entry, or if externally created flight plans are the way to go for now
Agreed!!
I have searched the G3000 and was not able to load Airways… I love the TBM, but I think that without the ability of loading propper airways we cant/ shouldn
t fly on vatsim. So yeah Airways are a MUST.

I’ve confirmed this as well. Seems to be an issue regardless of aircraft. The a320, 787 and 747 all accept airways but skip intermediates and are effectively just “direct / DCT”. It pains me that we can’t actually program a route within the sim. Loading from external is only possible from the main menu?
as far as i can tell, yes external plans can only be imported from the world map page. The sim brief flight plan format does work, but it does so by simply entering each waypoint of the airway as individual fixes as opposed to entering in airways. This furthers the idea that airways simply are not implemented at this time.
I know Navigraph is in the works right now with bringing their navdata over to the new sim. While this is great, its going to be sort of pointless in these default aircraft in a way, if we still can’t properly enter flight plans with airways and SIDs/STARs and Approaches without the in-game FMCs glitching out and unable to handle it.
Their navdata will be greatly appreciated however once we start getting some quality payware, which honestly I seriously cannot wait for. I have a good feeling about the A320 mods that have been rolling out, and I believe sooner than we may think its going to be a really full fledged zibo-like mod. But still, we just need a few things fixed (navdata, live weather) and some serious addon aircraft and this sim will be just glorious.
I don’t know if they already fixed it, but this is a really big issue that must be fixed ASAP, otherwise, it makes no sense. And people say there are workarounds just making it with simbrief but once I load the flight plan, as soon as I change the runway to a gate, or I select the ILS approach, the whole plan changes itself making useless the info from simbrief… It really ■■■■■■ me off and I’m playing less because of this issue until they fix it… unsimulable (referring to “unplayable”)
Can confirm, please fix
Am I correct in thinking that airways aren’t properly implemented? I’m using simbrief to generate flight plans and when I plug in my airways to the FMC in the A320 then go in correctly and are registered, however, the aircraft only actually flies direct and ignores the airway.
did you activate the flight plan, or just load it?
@MortThe2nd What do you mean? I started up my A320 and typed in each waypoint and airway into my A320 FMS
Just seen this thread and its pretty annoying. Need it really to make VATSIM properly viable.
Can confirm that this bug is still happening. Even using third party tools like navigraph, that correctly recognize airways. BUT the mid waypoints are not loading.
It’s almost a must for fly on VATSIM, and similar.
Still happening…
How to load Airways in Garmin instruments?
If missing (as I suppose) is it possible to implement it?

Why can’t we input airways manually? Or even importing a flight plan? Does anyone know if it’s gonna be a feature soon? Or is just on their (long) backlog?
If you want a realistic FMS the only thing capable of that now is the CJ4 Working Title Mod and it has the Pro-Line 21 with FMS 3000 and it’s very close to the real thing.
FMC/FMSs in FS2020 have been a big disappointment. Other things too, but it is a work in progress and still a great step forward over what we had previously.
This isn’t supported in the stock G1000.
Airways will be shown in a future WorkingTitle G1000 mod.
