About Career mode and immersion

Hey guys, besides the bugs encountered in Career Mode so far and reported in other threads, i would like to pinpoint a few other things that are annoying.

What about immersion in Career Mode ?

I’m flying in VR and as I totally understand the need to have visual assistance, I personnaly would like an option to turn it off as it gets me out of immersion every time.

Same for that annoying music playing when you reach the mission main point (like in fly over area missions or when you reach landing pattern).

I can understand guys who want to play arcade style but I would like an option to turn off anything that kills the feeling of immersion while flying missions.

It would even be a better thing to let the pilot make his own flight plan for VFR flights (even for IFR but maybe its more complicated to evaluate at the end) as a lot of times, the auto planned route is just ■■■■.
As an example, my base airport is in mountain area, so I get flights from valley airport to altiport (like Courchevel) and the flight plan requests a climb rate that is not possible with a 172 or sometimes I even get route indicators (blue boxes) going through the mountain…

I hope i’m not the only one feeling this way about immersion in Career mode…
Thanks guys.

It’s easy to get rid of the music - under sound settings, set the volume slider to 0 and it becomes a non-issue

Visual assistance can be toggled off with the TOGGLE VISUAL ASSISTANCES DISPLAY binding, but it’s not bound to anything by default so players have to assign it to something themselves.

Music volume can be set to zero in sound settings if you don’t mind not having music in the menus, but it would be nice to have more granular control of some sort.

Flight plan, yeah unless I’ve missed something, you can’t alter the EFB plan in a career mission. You can modify or delete the flight plan contained in the aircraft’s avionics, though that’s hardly as convenient as a flight planner.
(Addon toolbar panels seem to be disabled in career mode, but in the Optica and Draco X it’s possible to use the PMS50 GTN750 with the in-bezel mod from Got Friends, and the paid version of the PMS50 GTN750 can import flight plans from .pln files and SimBrief.)

Thx guys !

For the music, of course it’s an evidence that turning it off for good in the sound menu will definitly get ridd of it but the thing was turning it off just in career mode, anyway thx for the hint  .

For the visual assistance, i’ll give that a try. Everything is already turned off in the Assitance menu so I didn’t think that binding the toggle on a key would change anything. Anyway i’ll try that and let you know, thx

Once the flight is loaded and you are sitting in the cockpit, you can adjust the procedures in the EFB. It is not possible to adjust the departure airport and the destination airport. But you can adjust everything else. You can even re-upload the adjusted flight plan to ATC or in your GPS…

Ah, so that’s it! Thank you so much!

Aaahh nice, thx for the info !

I have to ask a dumb question from my side, since I have not entirely tried to execute these changes (On PC). But as I select a mission while in the HQ, I can bring up the EFB and it appears to allow me to make some changes to it here on this page (see images). Is it unavailable for you guys or does the ‘file plan / send to avionics’ not functional?
It may be broken for all I know

I think I see the point from the OP though, because you would need visual/map planning, while the EFB only offers NAV-planning I guess.

Well, for my part, changing anything in EFB from mission briefing won’t do. It would not let me add or change fuel nor change anything in route/fpl.
And as for the “send to avionics”, it’s not doing anything for me.

yes, I think you have to wait until you are in the plane and then adjust the flight plan in the EFB. Then it should work with sending to ATC and sending to GPS

Send to avionics is doing nothing.

Thanks all, I wasn’t aware of that.

As far as I can tell, send to avionics and to ATC does just that—sends to avionics and ATC. That changes the planned route but not the mission points.
In my experience, this can break missions, i.e. hand-offs, runways, taxiways…
I had a perfectly planned route, using VORs (not easy to do in MSFS2024), then after landing and taxing, there was no parking spot and the ‘final’ pin was hanging above the airport. I took off and tried a few more times on both runways, from both sides, but no luck

The execution of career mode is pretty disappointing to me. I pictured being able to select a job and then plan and execute with some amount of freedom on how to get it done. Right now, it’s flying through boxes and mashing the right button when commanded (when the weather doesn’t make it impossible). I think the grading on “aviator performance” is a good idea, but it’s overly specific, and there needs to be more options on choosing time, weather, and location. The way it is just kills immersion like you say. At least for me.
