Since installing today’s update (World Update IV) I cannot start Flight Simulator anymore. I’m always getting above mentioned message when running Flight Simulator. This brings me to an infinite loop that brings me back to the XBox login, and after logging in receiving the same message again.
First I was getting a “false positive” by Kaspersky, so I made “Flight Simulator” an exception in the Kaspersky rules and killed Kaspersky entirely to make sure it’s not interfering for sure.
Next I was getting a “Windows Defender Security Alert” and clicked “Allow Access” when running flight simulator.
STILL IT WON’T START AND ALWAYS THROWS ABOVE ERROR MESSAGE EACH TIME I RUN IT!
Here the the attempts I have made to fix the issue:
Followed all recommendations. Problem still the same.
In a second step also adjusted the config file as mentioned there. Problem still there.
Un-Installing Flight Simulator, re-installing it through MS Store App. Installation works fine. But the problem is back after the starting Flight Simulator.
Un-Installing Flight Simulator, re-installing it through XBox App. Installation works fine. But the problem is back after the starting Flight Simulator.
Uninstalling the Xbox app, rebooting computer, rdinstalling Xbox app and installing the update through Xbox app solved this problem for me. Might be worth a try.
Unfortunately I did that alway (in fact I did it one more time just now). The problem remains.
Strangely enough the Steam version that I also have gets beyond this point just fine (just not very much looking forward to download all packages again and I prefer the MS Store over the Steam version).
Although I’ve configured Windows Store not to automatically update my Windows Store Apps, I was surprised and to realize the latest FS2020 v1.15.7 was already installed automatically without my consent.. @Jummivana I believe this is a breach of some sort.
When launching it a few minutes ago, I was prompted with “Access to the content servers is currently unavail”. 2 x
In effect, I don’t have the Xbox app installed and I don’t want to install this just to make FS2020 running.
What did solve the issue (for now) is to launch the older Xbox Console companion app which I’ve, signing out, then signing back in right away. Launching FS2020 is now showing me the release notes and is about to download ~23.26GIB
Please ensure you have an active internet connection, and try again later. Please visit
zendesk for additional information.
I get the message shown above when I try to connect thru Steam.
OOKLA says my internet connection is downloading at 300 Mb/sec
Zendesk contains no useful information
What does this error message mean? If I can post this question here then I obviously have a good connection.
Logged out of XBOX and tried to log back in - would not accept the password my password manager has recorded. Changed the password and can now login BUT must use a different e-mail address than previously.
I guess the last Win 10 update I did yesterday evening (June 12) finally put into effect the changes I had made to my XBOX credentials several months ago. None of the prior Win 10 updates changed those credentials.
@Jummivana
This item in the FAQ caught my attention:
Do I need an internet connection to play?
Microsoft Flight Simulator has an offline mode. To turn this mode on, you will need to launch the simulator with an internet connection first. From there, you can activate this mode and play offline in the future.
Past FS2020 server outages were revealing you can’t play offline, even if you’ve configured your PC as the “main gamin device” (or something like that).
Does it mean this will be corrected for the PC version with the next update concomitant to the Xbox release ?
I found fix for me! Do the instructions on the zendesk, then login to Xbox Live but keep Microsoft Store logged out. You will get the error just tap on quit then log into Xbox with the popup!
The sim requiring a persistent connection for key components, fails when servers are offline. Offline needs improving massively. This should be key to the future of the simulator, in my opinion. Offline autogen, traffic all need massively improving to next-gen standards. The sim should not rely on streaming so much stuff, either. A big investment, abandoning an always connected state for key things, would be most welcome.
