Been telling the devs about that since early alpha. Then the pinned thread turned up: “Refrain from reporting missing airports as a bug, we are aware of those”. So priorities are gonna be pretty low I’m afraid.

Hi Guys,

I can today announce that I’ve picked up the work to build a EDDS Airport based on Google Maps satellite data with probably custom made assets. If anyone of you can support me in any way, just contact me, I’d be more than happy for any support I can get. I’m a german, yet also fluent in english so feel free to write me a DM or answer in this thread.

I am trying to create EHEH Eindhoven Airport which is also a blurred site. What I did is roughly place points (lines, taxiway points) and scenery objects and then editing the scenery XML file via a text editor and adjusting the coordinates with what I got from Google Maps “whats here” on those points. This was I was able to correctly shape and position the Apron for example. You can safely save the file and then load the same scenery again in your project which is open in MSFS without having to close or quit anything which is a relief.

But regardless, the documentation is lacking and I am trying to figure out how to set radio frequencies and add ground control and determine taxiway routes for arriving and departing aircraft. So if you or someone else know, let me know!

please explain to me how you reload changed scenery live without having to restart the sim, i cant find out how thats done

If you open the Sim, dev mode, then open the project via the project editor. Once you have done that, open the scenery editor there is a load button. You can use that as well to reload after you have edited the scenery file directly.

Here on this site are some hints why the Stuttgart airport ist missing. It seems, that the German Minister of Defence requested the pixelation in the past.

Indeed it is, in both respects I remember Frankfurt being fogged-in on one occasion back in 1977 and the Lufthansa 747 I was returning from New York in - having circled for quite a while, and running low on fuel - had to divert there. Not only that, but the visibility at Stuttgart was poor and the pilot was unfamiliar with the approach/short runway and landing there: my first go-around in what was then, a monster of an aircraft. Moreover, another passenger and I commented at the time that the tight turn he made over the Black Forest was as if he was on his own in a Cessna 152. It was quite a hairy landing, with overhead bins flying open and many upset cabin crew and passengers, most of whom took the offer of continuing to Frankfurt by train. Refuelled and somewhat lighter we made it to Frankfurt eventually.

Quite a story I think many passengers were scared to death I also upvoted, because I live in Stuttgart and know this airport very well. It was the first thing I wanted to do, after I started FS the first time: depart from EDDS… and there was nothing… couldn´t believe it first (although I know the reason now). I always expect to much, my negative steam vote (among other mentioned issues) told me that But also got 215 upvotes there → So it´s not only me who is not satisfied 100%. Oh, btw, yes, the grafics are good

A very small part of the airport is used by the US Army. That is likely the reason.

As it says: “The models are taken from google maps and converted with blender.” Unfortunately this violates the rules of google maps (in other words, it’s illegal) So we go on with our landmarks. But the google map scenery looks good though. We can’t use it for that reasons.

The promise from MS is, there are all world airports in the MSFS 2020. So this is a bug!

But: This bug should be solved by MS. MS/Asobo has to bring an update for MSFS 2020 with included EDDS. This can be a integration of the freeware, but must not. This is decission from MS.
