It baffles me how such a big thread of such a terrible issue that prevents medium to long haul flights entirelly for so many people don’t get any engagement from Asobos community managers, this issue is present since day one for me and by the looks of it, it’s starting to affect more people as updates are released
It has nothing to do with the live traffic issue, I’ve never use live or any kind of AI traffic and always had it
CoherentGTUIThread has been showing up a lot as the FPS limiting factor. There is very little information available describing why it is a bottleneck and if there are any workarounds or fixes.
At least the Developers FPS counter has been fixed to show >10 FPS.
I tried that before SU6 and before I found your set-destination-trick, and it didn’t work. I might try again, if other people claim it’s successful. By the way: Did you try the set destination stuff after SU6? Did it work?
Searching for a pattern I posted this in another thread:
“I am having issues with photogrammetry, too, after SU6. At the start of the flight it’s no problem, but when I fly over PG cities the FPS gets worse and worse, and even worse when I approach an airport near a PG city. E.g. last two flights where FPS dropped considerably over time were to EDDF and EGLL, the latter overflying several german PG cities additionally.
I do not have rolling cache, so that must be a server problem (or a memory leak introduced in SU6).”
Perhaps this is something to look out for on your side. Does anyone fly medium-long-haul with PG off and can tell us, if the problem is still there? I somehow suspect it has something to do with the new terrain LOD, since this also loads more photogrammetry - this could also constitute a memory leak over time. Again, just a new theory of mine; you could toggle PG off for a moment if you encounter a FPS drop and see if it does something. Will try that next time, but I’ll only be able to fly again in couple of days.
I haven’t tried the set-as-destination trick with SU6 but will do. So far ISLC seems to be working with my long hauls…(I am not sure why it’s like that on my PC? or if it’s even doing what I think it is doing…??)
No idea. The sheer fact that there are/were seemingly about 20 workarounds suggests that the effect (less FPS over time) can be caused by different things, and therefore only solved by different workarounds, depending on the type of flight (long haul in an airliner, flying around in a bush plane), the graphics settings (pre-caching, photogrammetry), the used mods etc.
I hope otherwise, of course.
Yes, Everything worked good before the SU6 update.
The FPS dropping makes the game unplayable. But I have tried to run FS in the safe mode, the FPS problem does not occur anymore. But it is no way to solve the problem in the normal mode so far…
This means it’s one or multiple mods causing this for you, since “safe mode” just disables all mods. Do you have global mods like Bijans Season mod or similar, that might cause a general FPS drop?
Noticed my fps dropped to 2 from 60 flying a long haul from CYYZ-VHHH. 13.5 hours straight flying no problem, but once I started my descent the performance dropped instantly.
So I can confirm this major issue which came for me with Sim Update 6 (never noticed it before). After dozens minutes of playing my performance drops and only way to fix it is to restart the entire flight, or start new one.
#1 Flight from EGLL to EDDV started on EGLL with stable 31 FPS, after more than half an hour FPS started to drop at cruising level from 31 to 21. I have landed with terrible FPS and on ground I had mentioned 21 FPS (even in ESC Menu). When I have started new flight on destination airport, FPS came magically back to 29.
#2 25 minutes flight around UK. Started with 32 FPS and ended up at the very same airport and place with only 29 FPS. 3 FPS degradation in only half an hour.
I have tried a lot of stuff found on forum, so here is list of already checked items what could cause FPS drop over time, but it was not the case:
Improper Addon in Community folder (Issue is present also on default planes and test flights were flown only with Salty 747 and F-14 (on rotation) in Community Folder)
CPU/GPU Throttling (Thermal Issues) - (I have monitored temperatures during both of flight (you can see that in videos) and they are pretty ok, also if issue was done by Throttling, it would improve after landing, (waited for minutes to system cool off) or in less demanding parts of flight - but nope, I had low FPS even in ESC menu
Turning OFF Live Traffic (tried to disable it, won’t help, flights were also flown with LT OFF)
Turning OFF Multiplayer (same story)
Toggling Live Weather
Reloading plane
Deleting Rolling Cache in MSFS
Turning OFF Shader Cache in Nvidia Control Panel (did not fix the issue)
Please, Everyone report this issue to ZenDesk, so Asobo can fix this major issue as soon as possible. All my airliners are currently grounded, because they are almost no possible to fly. Link to ZenDesk Bug Report is here: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
If you have time, you could try with LOD 200 or even 100 and see if FPS drops nonetheless over time.
If there is a general FPS drop over time, it should happen anyway. However it could be connected to the new LOD setting, because, well, that’s what changed for SU6, so if it DOESN’T drop with a modest LOD, we have a clue here.
I doubt this will help the majority of people but who ever has YourControls installed in the community folder should be aware that it can conflict other mods including the FBW A320 and the PMP A330. If said mods are in the community folder at the same time it causes massive performance loss for any aircraft even when YourControls is not running. Before removing YourControls I would encounter noticeable lag after about an hour and a half and audio crackle would follow after some more time.
Once again I was flying and 20 mins into the flight I started getting a huge drop in fps from 80 to 11. I briefly pressed the esc button and while in the pause menu the frames jumped up to 158. I waited no more than 10 second and went back into the sim and everything seemed fine again with 80 fps. Not sure if this was a fluke but worth a shot.
