After playing a few hours, FPS drops from 40 to 5FPS

Does any one know if this bug logged by Asobo?

no one knows theres no dev feedback here. bug exists long time, and they dont mentioned it in QA or here. so most likely nothing will happen in SU7, perhaps 2022 some time. so long we just cant play this so called “sim”

For the first time in ages, I was able to complete a 787 flight that went for over 4 hours (KJFK to KLAX), with no real signs of fps degradation (there may have been some tho, I didn’t use an fps counter). I had live traffic, multiplayer and live weather on, but I deleted SimConnect.

I’m really tempted to try a long or ultra long haul flight now.

still can’t perform long flights
I started with 40 fps.

10 hs later

I don’t have MSFS traffic nor AI activated, I only have IVAO planes in the sky.

now that right there is just a power point presentation in a video game.

I was facing the same issue, I guess I solved the issue by uninstalling the GARMIN G1000 NXI by Working Title.

My FPS jumped back to mid 50 to 60. I did a 4 hours flight, started with 70 FPS, and ended with 55 FPS.

same thing here – work around would be saving the flight, and re-loading at the gate for turn-around flights BUT Asobo broke the toolbar last update. load any flight, toolbar isnt there

What plane where you flying at the time?

So zendesk doesnt help to get this solved, when can we fly longer then 30 minutes again?

ok, after reading a lot into forums and suggestions, nothing did the trick for me until I removed YourControls.
Even if I wasn’t sharing my cockpit, the ■■■■ thing degraded the sim performance from 40 fps to 2 fps
I made 2 flights now without YourControls installed SAEZ-LEMD and LEMD-SAEZ, everything is fine

Try removing YourControls!

Just flew from KLAX to YMML, just over 14 hours in the 777-300ER (didn’t use the 787-10 due to lack of range). No fps drop whatsover. All after I deleted YourControls.

I’m glad that got sorted out for some, but I personally do not have YourControls.

we dont have this mod, its without all mods.

Yeah I don’t think the issue has to do with a particular mod (in this case, YourControls). Many of us fly without any mods and the huge fps drop is still there. For me I only have a few freeware airports, liveries, and Navigraph. Personally I think it’s a bug in the programming, perhaps caused by memory mismanagement? That’s just my uneducated guess.

Glad it solved the problem for you though.

yep, i hope they solve this the next month

Here is a hint. They won’t. There has been a lack of interaction between Asobo and the community with this issue. There was nothing on the last dev update and I have yet to see any form of recognition of the issue on any of the dev streams. Zendesk doesn’t seem to be much help either.

Okay so, 3 of my last flights went as follows:

787 | KJFK - KLAX - 4 hours, no fps drop
777 | KLAX - YMML - near 15 hours, no fps drop
787 | EGLL - CYYZ - 7 hours, fps drop

On the last flight, the fps started to improve as I got closer to the ground. I feel like the 787 is far more susceptible to these fps drops, due to its glass cockpit (more displays, 2 HUDs, and larger displays). The 777 was fine, and therefore I’d assume the 747 would be fine too.

Yeah I don’t mean to be pessimistic about things but I really don’t see Asobo getting to the bottom of this in the near future. I have a feeling that fixing it may require some substantial rewrites to the software architecture and Asobo simply can’t make that effort so they just don’t communicate. I mean, MSFS 2020 is an incredibly complex program and I can only imagine the amount of work needed to change something fundamental, if it was true.

But again, that’s just my guess. Without knowing exactly what the program is doing, no one really knows. I mean, if it was an easy fix, why haven’t they done anything by now? It’s been over a year since this issue has been identified.

I have biggest drop on 747 - with FBW A320 I face “only” 8 FPS drop, but with 747 I went about 20 FPS down.

Interesting thing you had drop on flight from EGLL
I had the biggest drop also from Heathrow.

Well I do not think it would need rewrite of code. Asobo just needs to measure FPS drop - they have access to background processes of Sim, so they can see what’s the cause of FPS drop, not just “main thread” message what we get.

I believe it have to be something like “photogrammetry won’t unload as you fly out”
But we can’t fix it without Asobo help, so be sure to report it to ZenDesk
