I’ll definitely report this to ZenDesk. The thing is I’m not sure if the issue is in their backlog for SU8.
It might be worth sharing that file with the community as a whole, in case anyone else wishes to replicate. If you do, include details of any mods it requires, mainly aircraft mods I would assume, plus their version number.
I’ve not really looked in to those save files myself, but my hope is that if it is just a list of systems settings, you could go through them line by line, and start flipping 1’s to 0’s, for example, and see if any change in behaviour can be found.
Dirty, and repetitious, but these things often are! ![]()
EDIT: As I say, I’ve never really looked at those save files, so I spawned the A320 at FL400, then created a save file, then closed the sim.
As I guessed it has a whole boatload of configuration items. The following shows the plane in use, all well, and good:
[Sim.0]
Sim=Airbus A320 Neo Asobo
Pilot=Pilot_Male_Casual
Copilot=Default
TailNumber=G-EHOB
AirlineCallSign=
FlightNumber=
AppendHeavy=False
Elsewhere in the file, it lists any LVARs. The sim seems to list LVARs for planes that are not even loaded, such as the SWS Kodiak. I did not expect that, but in any case I expect it wouldn’t make much of a difference as these are just defining a value for an LVAR you may or may not have.
I would guess the interesting sections would be:
[Switches.0]
[Electrical.0]
[Systems.0]
Maybe also these:
[Engine Parameters.1.0]
[Engine Parameters.2.0]
Not having a clue about what should be set to what, if it were me what I would probably do is start a given aircraft C&D on the ground, save that file out, then copy/paste those sections across in to the “live” file at altitude, in the hopes it would start the flight C&D at FL400! ![]()
If you now have one altered file that has the issue, and one modified one that does not, somewhere in those configurations i̶s may be what is triggering the issue.
Live weather - I update to the latest experimental each time before loading M$F$. No clue why it started working again yesterday nor why on January 1st it stopped working for many
Because at january 1st there was a problem with live weather which also led to stuttering
this thread isn’t about stuttering – it’s about performance loss after flying 1+ hrs
I was still having performance loss from the Live Weather server fix last week right up until yesterday, 1/9. I don’t know why it’s broke nor why it started working again yesterday (or if it’s going to work again today, merely sharing my experience.
Hi, I’m back after few tests and med haul flight.
I flew yesterday from KMTN to KNEW, scheduled 2h but I pause the game for 3h so 5h total running time. FPS drop like always when at ground ( 45 to 60 and 75 airbone at FL440) but nothing like 1 or 2 weeks ago when I wasn’t able to land, with FPS at under 15, even at 2-3 FPS in short final.
Today, I did an LLGB-ENGM, 4h28. No FPS drop. The sim was running smooth as f****, like before SU5 and so. The plane was Salty 747. I d’ont know if the last update did the trick but in my settings, TLOD seems to make the things better.
I need to try to put TLOD at 400 again and see if FPS drop again during cruise and if it will make a slideshow approach. But at 250, it’s very smooth
Next flight : SALTY 747, CYYZ-TFFR, i will try to take screenshot of FPS, CPU and GPU load at different stage of flight.
We all appreciate your testing.
Just because its smooth doesn’t mean FPS hasn’t drop though. Like at 50 FPS it appears smooth, but in reality it had dropped 20 FPS from the 70 FPS previously but you will not notice.
Speaking about screenshots, if you do this it will help.
- Taking a screenshot of the Dev mode FPS counter after your long flight when landed at an airport,
- then exiting to main menu and spawning back into that same location and taking another screenshot to compare.
- Bonus if you restart MSFS and do the same thing but might be overkill.
For me it is not so much about the actual number of frames, it’s the playability. Like I’d be good with even 20 frames, but when it goes below 10 it’s really hard to enjoy myself.
I agree, I don’t mind a drop of FPS, as long as I’m around 30fps at least at final.
Have done a few tests now without yourcontrol and HDR off, and no significant drop in 2-3 hrs.
Well my issue is the performance should be the same regardless of how long you use the sim.
If you land and you have 20 FPS and stutters and you restart the sim at that exact location and you get smooth 50 FPS there is something wrong.
Yea for sure I agree with this. That’s why the issues so annoying cause you KNOW your pc is good enough to get those frames, the game just prevents you from getting them consistently.
We really need some sort of comment from the devs on this issue.
+1 here – I just landed in KATL on vatsim with the best frames I’ve had in months – nothing has changed settings wise, only change was the latest Exp FBW — The hypothesis that this is server related seems fairly realistic at this pt
Pre Jan 1 - no problems
Jan 1 - servers crapped out, FPS drop on flights
Jan 4? - Live Weather back, still had FPS drops
Jan 9 & 10 - game performs pristinely
Did you have live weather and/or live traffic running when it worked really well with the experimental A32nx?
I load into the game with a preset and then immediately switch on Live Weather
This day I took FBW a320 to pattern around airport, about 25 minutes flight. And only after that time, there was degradation almost 4 FPS when I came back to the gate. This needs to be fixed ASAP
Note the lighting is by ground vehicle, all plane’s system are turned off on both of screens.
Now it’s getting funy.
Bean counting
Here again, after CYYZ-TFFR.
Nothing to do whith FPS but flight was not log in logbook at the end… ![]()
Trouble with snow on the ground at beginning, clipping in and out :
Now, let’s move to FPS, my settings :
About the flight :
Cold and dark inside and outside
Push & taxi :
line up andd climb :
Over NYC and KJFK at 1h flight time :
Over ocean at 2H, 2h30 (inside and outside) and 3h30 :
Over antigua :
Descent and approach:
Short final, landing and gate :
After I reload the airplane at the same parking at TFFR :
Yes, drop at ground but still smooth, as before. But in the sky, FPS is limited by AMD Freesync.
As I saifd before, the only change I did was to update FBW A32NX to last exp and to reduce TLOD to 250 unstead of 400. I will try with TLOD 400 in next flight test.
I hope it can help
