After update ILS still broken

Landing from the southwest to BDL, A320 went off the ILS several times on the last 50 miles. Also the ILS drove me right into the side of a large hill. Anyone else having ILS problems still?
On a positive note the shaking from side to side was corrected.

It’s curious your story. Have you entered the finish track in the FMC? I never had this problem …

That’s one looooong approach :stuck_out_tongue:

You were not on the ILS 50 miles out…

The maximum distance for the localizer beam of an ILS that I’ve seen was about 30 miles out,
so whatever you are doing, you aren’t on the ILS.

Yup. TBM930 can’t line up properly yet again. Continuous offset to the right on every ILS AP approach, even though the instruments are indicating correctly.

Your ILS heading is off too… seems correct from what I can see

If you hit the Localizer too early it will take your plane the other way.

Then you are reading the instruments incorrectly.

Wrong on both counts. I have flown thousands of ILS APRs, and this is broken.

I flew the approach twice and both times the plane was offset to the right, and indeed proceeded to land on the grass.

Then why is the green needle so far to the left… or is it only off when flying it in AP?

Yeah like - show us the centered needle view. This looks right to me.

That is where the AP tracked the localiser. Obviously the needle should be aligned with the track indicator then the plane would be on track. That is wthe whole point of the bug.

The AP is flying the track offset to the side all the way down the localiser.

Which airport was that in your screenshot? I’ll try it.

London Heathrow EGLL 09L.

I also tried 09R.

The error is not consistent. On a second round of approaches, the error was less pronounced, but it was still there.

ALso the TBM seems to be turning slower under AP control, so is struggling to acquire ititial localiser fix. Something has definitely changed since the last build.

The localiser acquire has never been right, usually starting the final turn to ILS too late, overshooting and then oscillating a little until it settles onto the correct track. In the previous build it eventually lined up perfect, and I could fly Cat IIIC approaches in the most awful conditions, and it coped with strong side winds.

But this latest build is late to turn to final track, overshoots the track, turns too slow, oscillates very slowly, and settles to a final track where the heading is correct but always offset to a greater or lesser amount from the correct track to the runway. I always have to make a manual adjustment to line up with the runway in the latter stages of approach. This wasn’t the case before.

I certainly wouldn’t want to rely on the system in 1.11.6 to flya Cat IIIC 'zero visibility approach as I would miss the runway every time.

Ah - that makes more sense. Nothing wrong with the ILS. The problem is that the AP is not driving to align the aircraft with the ILS (well, the localizer, I guess).

Have to ask here, are you running the vanilla sim, or do you have

  • Navigraph navigation data
  • mods for the planes

Would be easier to troubleshoot if we knew what you’re working with.
If it’s core sim only, it should be easy to reproduce any bugs.
If you’re injecting Navigraph data or using G1000/G3000 mods, it becomes a lot more complex.

I’m not able to get the ILS to work on the TBM either. It won’t line up with the localizer.

I’ve tried both with and without the Navigraph data and with and without the G3000 mod and no difference. Won’t follow the localizer or glide path.

I know it’s not a “me” thing. I’ve been flying the TBM more than any other plane and have most of my hours and landings in it, most of them being ILS.

Wonderful. They’ve broken my favourite plane that worked fine before the patch.

While I don’t fly the TBM a lot I saw this post and thought, I don’t remember it ever being broken. So I went for a quick flight to test it coming into land at KBOS with a “wicked” cross wind. It crabbed me all the way in no problems. I disengaged with about 30ft to go and was only a few feet off center.

turn your settings on to true life setting and you wont have any issues with ILS approaches

Was seeing posts about this at work so it was the first thing I tried when I got home. I was able to land the ILS 22 at my usual airport KEAU just fine. I was able to capture it initially with highly unrealistic winds (xchecked in meteoblue) of 34kts when intercepted. Crabbed like poster above until <1000 ft.

Excuse these screenshots of a capture from a video… I can post the video if need be.

I suspect it could be just certain airports got screwed up, so I will try others and the ones in this post and report back.

I do have the G3000 mod from WIP. No TBM specific mods.

Edit: KMSP 30R working fine
