What should we expect for the AIRAC updates in FS2024? Same process as in 2020, or, considering everything is streamed, will it be an automatic process? For example, in the ATR, I see the last update is over two years ago
That is weird. We have different dates?!
Are these just static text and not an actual reflection of the nav data’s true date?
Each plane has different dates
I think that is why I’m wondering if the ATR and Saab are just showing static text and they aren’t actually reflecting the nav data’s true date.
It doesn’t make too much sense otherwise.
OK, dlc in community folder can be updated with navigraph in the old way.
All contents streamed have random AIRAC
Are the streamed aircraft able to see your Navigraph data?
Not the ATR, I’ll try few more
Same process as 2020, MS isn’t paying for Navigrapgh up dates so you’re on your own.
Cirrus SR22T took AIRAC from navigraph and use it
Hmm… so it isn’t consistent.
Well, the Navigraph Hub does show beta!
Regardless, I’d still like to know why we see such different dates for the ATR and Saab.
I wonder if there are other aircraft that are displaying some more unique dates.
I’m seeing this same Nav Data date in the MSFS 2020 version of the ATR, too.
It must be static text and not dynamically generated from the actual nav data date.
LAST MOD is not AIRAC Cycle
Ah.
Where is the date specified in the ATR’s FMS?
I’m in EDDK Cologne/Bonn with Longitude: as I arrived, the LIDO charts correctly displayed the procedures for runway 13L, while the GTCU only showed procedures for runway 14L. Now, as I need to depart, there are no procedures available for runway 13L.
The AIRAC cycle in MSF2024 is very outdated, and cycle 2412 is urgently needed.
In the U.S., none of the airports I frequent have their AIRAC data in 2024.
Throughout the life of 2020, the AIRAC data was always a mishmash of current and outdated data, so much so I have no idea how MicroSobo manages the AIRAC data. For instance, KFIT still has the runway that was removed circa 2020. KCON is missing a taxiway that was installed sometime around 2015 or earlier. So any AIRAC updates they process, well, it doesn’t match the actual AIRAC in total data.
When 2020 was released, KASH at least had its Tower, but, no Approach or Takeoff procedures. For about a year. But, eventually they got into the sim and I could call them up on the GPS. Now in 2024, it doesn’t even have its Tower, much less its procedures.
I hope that Jorg and Seb discuss something about what the state of the AIRAC data is, and what their plans are for airports that LIDO doesn’t cover.
I don’t care that LIDO doesn’t support Class D airports without regular commercial service. We were told by @Bishop398 that, in the U.S. we’d also have access to FAA charts, and he’s right that my EFB has a tab for FAA charts. My assumption, apparently wrongly, was that they’d install all the FAA charts available, so we’d be covered for those airports that LIDO didn’t cover. Currently, it appears that if LIDO doesn’t cover it, it won’t be in the AIRAC data at all, even if there’s FAA data to fill in the gaps. I mean, as far as FS2024 is concerned, KASH doesn’t even have a tower, much less its procedures that are also missing. And when I brought in my 2020 replacement airport into 2024, it still didn’t fix the problem with the tower (I removed the procedures for the airport I had added when they updated the airport to include the procedures, so I know my airport doesn’t fix that problem). So there’s something very wrong with the airport ATC network and AIRAC data in 2024.
So maybe they just haven’t finished the tools they need to interpret the AIRAC cycle data for FS2024, and eventually it will be more complete?
But why is FS2024 ignoring the definition of the Tower at KASH? I know the frequencies are defined. I reviewed the SDK and couldn’t find any hint towards why it’s missing yet. The method to define frequencies hasn’t changed as far as I can tell, though, I haven’t brought my airport into the 2024 scenery editor to see if the format of the data has been changed.
It’s not the end of the world I don’t have access to all the FAA charts. I can use the EFB I use when I fly and connect it to FS with Simconnect. But I can’t use that method in VR. I do have a tool for showing PDF’s in FS2020, so, before each flight, I could prep all the charts I need and have them available to me in VFR. But, that’s a lot of work, and I didn’t tend to do it as I don’t have that much time to sim. But, even on the Garmin 530, if I try to bring up the procedures at KASH, they don’t even exist in the AIRAC cycle data at all.
Something is very broken.
My “base” airport in Career Mode — KKIC — is an uncontrolled airport and being treated as a controlled airport in 2024, so I have the opposite problem to yours.
Something is really awry here.
