I had a lot of free time yesterday, haha. And when the weather isn’t great in the real world, flight sim makes it better. Enjoy this tutorial of Hype Performance Group’s Airbus H135 and TCA Thrustmaster Airbus Joystick and Throttle Quadrant. By the way, if you haven’t visited the Out Skerries in the Shetland Islands, so worth a visit
Hi @Sc00by2D00,
I’ve moved your topic into #third-party-addon-discussion:aircraft for discussion.
Thanks!
Thank you very much and my apologies, my touchscreen skills aren’t the best, somehow picked the general topic instead haha.
No problem. You could also move it into #flying if want. To do that, just click on the “pencil” icon next to your title and then start typing “flying” until that category populates, then select the new destination and click on the checkmark to save.
Nice smooth flight. I can’t get anywhere near that after a couple of hours a day for two weeks. How have you mapped your controls? I have the same Airbus TCA but I’m using the Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant. As I understood the installation instructions for the 135, the Throttle and Collective were combined and mapped to Throttle Axis. You seem to be using them separately. One lever on my Bravo is mapped to Throttle Axis, supposedly to control thrust and collective. I disabled the slider on the TCA since the Bravo was mapped to Throttle. I couldn’t understand some things over the engine noise, but I’ll watch it again and maybe pick out a couple of things each time.
My apologies, I think I did not reduce the engine noise enough for the voice audio. So at first, I tried to separately create a a profile specifically for the H135. That did not work out for me, probably my fault in mapping out the controls. So I went back to the default profile for the joystick and throttle and tried testing it out once more. It was then I noticed that when I moved the throttles on the quadrant, there was no movement in torque. Out of a bit of frustration, I moved the throttle on the joystick, surprise, the torque moved and I was able to fly the helicopter. So for me, I didn’t have to change anything just to try out the helicopter, as the default mapping worked. However my default mapping is tweaked specifically for the A320N, haha, since I fly that the most, but the helicopter worked too, winning.
Hope that helps you out
Thanks for reply. I can’t find the right combinations to control the bird. Probably best to go on the Discord site and try. Maybe I can be put on the right track by the experienced helo pilots there. If not, I’ll just stay with the fixed wing. I can make them do what I want.
You’re welcome, yeah the helicopter is definitely different than fixed wing. Don’t give up, as I am sure there are many flyers out there that can help with your combination of controls. I think I was lucky and things worked out on their own haha. But it wasn’t until after lots of trial and error.
Cheers.
Many thanks for your nice Video, can you do me a favour, I have many problems to use my Airbus Joystick TCA, can you let me know your Joystick Settings, it would be great…!"
I don’t use an extra Rudder Pedals or an Throttle-Quadrant, is it possible to fly only with the Joystick…?
Many thanks
Hello and I am glad you liked my video. I don’t use rudder pedals either, but I use the TCA Airbus Throttle Quadrant because I like the independent throttles, this is great for single engine taxi practice and differential thrust for 90 degree turns.
As for the joystick itself, I haven’t touched the settings for it. It was plug and play for me after updating the firmware via Thrustmaster’s app and ha worked fine. The throttle quadrant is what needed tweaking.
That being said, prior to my current setup, I was using a Cyborg X joystick with dual engine throttles attached to the joystick, this is the first time for me using a separate piece of hardware, complimenting the joystick. So yes, you can use the joystick only, I believe, but I’ll double check the helicopter controls…once FS completes the monthly update haha.
