What is the procedure to trigger the spawning of the ground crew to marshall you into the parking spot at the gate ?
I am always flying either pilot2atc or vatsim, so I do not use the msfs atc except during pre flight to request bags, jetway, catering and then don’t use again until after I land at the arrival, at which point I request a taxi to a gate (or parking if ga). When I follow the blue arrows to my gate there is some generic ground crew npc around buy never ever a marshall to help park.
I haven’t had them for any of my flights since the first release of the game … any ideas? It was really nice to have.
Yeah that’s what I’m doing as I tried to describe above - i get the assigned spot or gate and follow the arrows
NEVER had a marshal since original release. Just a random NPC and a pushback vehicle waiting there when i arrive, just park using external views. not as cool.
I also maybe saw them once, i was suprised that they even exist in a sim, after that one time, never saw them again, doesn’t matter if i ask for gate number through atc.
Just reporting in after the last patch, had first flight tonight…they’re back!
I did also reset all my graphics settings and redo them as well after patching.
Same issue here, never knew they existed, then one day there he was saw him again several flights later now after 6 or 7 flights all to international airports, nothing. Did hr get fired ? Quit due to low pay ? or maybe he just dosen’t like me !!!, I have put my General/traffic/worker density at 80 %. he still won’t come out, I use Pilot2ATC
changed settings in worker density, been going to major international airports re set graphics settings they still don’t like me, Maybee give then a raise !!!
So, question: Do you have any community airports installed?
If so, you need to search all of them for AirportServices and LivingWorld_Config directories.
My first suggestion would be to remove the references to them in the Layout.json for the airports that have them since it doesn’t look like you fly from smaller airports where the services and vehicle density is ridiculous by default, which is why people have been adding these files. They could be great for controlling the immersion at airfields, but there are currently issues with the functionality of the Living World Configuration and Services features.
The problem is:
Those files, which technically should only affect the airport they are installed with, in fact become active for all. Whichever file is read in last is used everywhere.
The examples in the SDK have the wrong path to services scripts, so, if services are called and the author hasn’t fixed the path to the service script, the scripts won’t work because MSFS can’t find them. And some authors just turn the scripts off altogether. Which is what it sounds like here.
People who are writing the configuration files I’ve found don’t really write them properly, which can cause other problems. The SDK, while it has a lot of detail, the process is convoluted, and written by a programmer. So the code can kind of get the job done, but it’s cryptic, and they didn’t take all situations that people would want to do into account. And features are written kind of backwards from how a lot of people think. Think Reverse Polish Notation calculators; while I love using them (Oh, you’re one of those people ), a lot of people are befuddled by them.
So, in this case, it sounds like the Marshaller script is not working for your installation, which points to you having one or both of these files working improperly somewhere in your installation.
I read somewhere that the aircraft CFG is set for Marshaller. I had Marshallers with the default Cessna, but when I started flying the Carenado Mooney, no more Marshallers, Unfortunately, the aircraft CFG for the Mooney is encrypted, so I can’t add the line Marshaller=1 ( or some such spelling)
If you use one of the Mooney liveries, you’ll get an aircraft.cfg file with that. I’ve got one I haven’t gotten around to releasing yet. Maybe in a couple days. But there are others out there.
ok gang I may have discovered the delima using Pilot2ATC and NOT getting a marshaler !!
I believe to get the marshaler. FS 2020 has to pick the gate, if Pilot2ATC picks it there will be no marshaler, perhaps the two times I had one was because Pilot2ATC happened to pick the same gate FS 2020 would pick , I will fly same route tomorrow and see what gate Pilot2atc picks compared to FS 2020
