Unless I’m missing something I would like to request that in find some 2024 on the aircraft menu that it appears and functions like it did in 2020 meaning no longer in 2024 can you see multiple aircraft at once he restricted to two rows of three aircraft each, and it takes longer to find things
There’s also no filters or sorting arrows. And “airplane” as a category is too broad. Need “airliners” “military” “turboprops” etc
Here are some comments of mine on the UI, from another thread:
"(…) Aside from the stability, infrastructure and performance issues rightly raised by many, I’d like to emphasize a few aspects of the UI that are arguably a regression from MFS2020 and are in dire need of improvement, or perhaps total rethinking:
Aircraft thumbnails vary in perspective, zoom level and are otherwise unflattering and fail to deliver a convincing sense of scale. Placeholder material here, truly surprising;
Menus are unresponsive all across the board, but especially when flipping through the (too many) screens pertaining to aircraft selection and configuration. Each click leads to a couple of seconds of nothing, and then a slow and often somewhat choppy animation, and then we’re presented with a half-textured aircraft model. MFS2020 was nothing like this.
Even in the context of a cloud-centered service, I strongly believe that having more data downloaded in advance and stored locally would remedy some of the latency issues with the UI;
The “Controls” menu and the keybinding process is, frankly, unfit for purpose. Slow, confusing, redundant, a regression from the passable setup we had in the previous sim;
Several of the liveries are mislabeled, i.e. the Malaysian Airlines livery for the A330 is currently labeled as “American Airlines” in the UI."
I agree. The aircraft selection isn’t very usable, with the airplane category containing all variants. We can’t filter by piston, turboprop, jet etc. It’s not helped by the tiny visible number of aircraft shown.
The size of the airplane icons is way too big and makes scrolling through the aircraft ridiculous. The entire UI is really bad. The controll bindings page is hilariously difficult to understand and use quickly. Some bindings don’t even work correctly. It is the opposite of user friendly.
I have to admit I never thought I’d long for the 2020 Controls setup.
Some context here - I’d assume that if the same process for Controls setup was carried over to 2024 with some minor changes (like not having to tab tab tab tab to get where you wanted to go) then the setup could have been ported over. Maybe, maybe not.
Also no sign of favourites, or - perhaps more importantly - the ability to hide aircraft you have no interest in.
Unfortunately it’s another obvious example of Asobo implementing something at a very basic level with the feeling that it’s sufficient. It’s hard to believe some of the issues here weren’t brought up during development, but for some reason or other we ended up with the current state of things.
It’s truly atrocious. It seems like no thought was put into the menu design in this game. It’s so much worse than 2020, which I already though was not great.
The whole menu system needs to be more streamlined. Especially right before where you have the options to “Start” and “Accessibility” options…so two options…two buttons…but they use 3 colors? White, Blue and Yellow? Make both buttons the same color and highlight in yellow what you’re selecting, its like it wasn’t even reviewed.
More than anything else though we desperately need a favorite aircraft system for free flight.
Premium Deluxe and Aviator purchasers can have 100+ planes and even more with 3rd party addons.
Please give us a favorites tab and make it the default if there are pinned favorites.
I like the show one aircraft type and pick a variant from that list. Wish it would save the variant and livery for the next time you select that aircraft.
I would also like to see a favorites list or perhaps even putting the aircraft you fly most first in the list.
Aircraft is too wide a topic and we need some filters for prop, turbo, jet, airliners
Why only two rows with horizontal scrolling? If you want to keep horizontal scrolling place at least 4 rows on screen. There is room.
