Record missing from flight challenges

I have updated to the latest version having not used MFS for a few months. All of the visual records of my challenges are missing - the A,B,C labels for each challenge. My score is still on the leaderboard though. I have flown a repeat to see if the score reconnects with the sim itself but now shows my latest record and not the 'A from my best flight. Has anyone experienced this already and can suggest anyway to bring all this back. As ever also the data log is totally random - some values seem to be reset where others are still showing.

If the Devs are working this ‘behind the scenes’ that’s a Very Good Thing.

The landing challenges used to be a lot of fun but I haven’t touched any of them for 6+ months, despite grabbing several Global Top Ten scores (best was # 3 - with video evidence on YT).

One of the concerns myself & many others raised a while back was the deceptive use of a ‘technique’ or ‘exploit’ to get top scores (aka by cheaters) - typically those leaderboard scores ending in zeros, the other was the bug of over-writing your highest score with your last score & lastly several challenges simply ignored your score completely. It’s a well-trodden topic this, my hope is that whatever is causing the OP’s concern is a result of back-room fixes. Fingers crossed all !

I have MSFS (Steam edition) installed on two computers. One PC is my go-to for MSFS, the other is occasional. Yesterday I got on the occasional PC, fired up MSFS, uncharacteristically it wanted me to log into MS. So I logged in and and that was it, landing challenge progress gone. The other PC has always been logged in, so not sure why logging in on the other wiped it all out.

I also noticed that it reset my controls back to the default profile. The other profiles I’d set up were still there, so I could get back to my prior config, but I had to click around and do it. And my custom tail number was set back to default as well.

Had the problem several times after sim updates.
Now after the avionics update 1 day ago I again have lost my activities progress.
Progress of all activities like landing challenges and flight school is set to 0%.

We shoud get more votes for this bug as it is very frustrating.
Has anyone found a way to restore the progress?

Hi @PiteurFromveur & welcome to the forums!

I believe what you are experiencing may not be caused by the same bug as was originally reported in this thread back in July 2021, but this known bug, specifically these two bullet points:

• Your logbook is showing 0 hours
• Your achievements have been reset to 0%

[KNOWN ISSUE] Authentication/Insert Disc/Logbook Lost/Unable to sync with cloud etc

I’ve also lost all my landing challenges progress since the last update, however the logbook is still valid.

I have the same issue as reported in this thread. I mentionned it to support, the answer is : no solution (when cloud data is lost, it is lost).
The frequent lost of MS Store connection and xbox connection seems to be the cause.
The reset procedure you mentionned in your answer is also the usual answer provided by support. I applied this procedure several times (reset microsoft store, repair gaming service …) , an few days ago after, again disconnection . My PC is new, fresh standard installation, good network … and i do not believe it is normal to have so frequent disconnections. My opinion is that MS STORE and XBOX applications are not steady, and that’s a pity to spoil FS2020 software, which is a fantastic software. Is there any way to use FS2020 without MS STORE and XBOX ? I didn’t find the same issue in forums with Steam.

Hi @PiteurFromveur,
You can choose to purchase MSFS from the Microsoft Store or from the Steam Store.

If you choose to purchase from Steam, I presume your purchase would not show up in the MS Store, so you would not need to use it (Though since I’ve not purchased MSFS using Steam, I cannot personally confirm this).

Irrespective of which store you purchase MSFS from, both require you to to have a Microsoft Account & Xbox Gamertag - see this article for more information:

My understanding is that the Xbox App is used by MSFS 2020. I’ve never tried to uninstall it and see if MSFS runs without it, but some posts in these topics suggests that it is a requirement:

Do you need the Xbox app to run the sim

I originally bought the sim from the Microsoft Store and downloaded it, and have been using it for at least a year or more. I never downloaded the Xbox app and it ran fine till recently,.now I get a warning message and the sim won’t load. One person has told me that I need the Xbox app but other sources have indicated otherwise. Which is true?

Sorry for my complaint, if i had no issue i would never have complained. I thought my post to this thread was constructive as I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE THE ISSUE. I am not working for a system. I bought MSF2020 on a DVD version, and never expected to be annoyed by MS STORE and XBOX when doing this. Again, my experience and my opinion is that FS2020 is a fantastic software, but
I have many issues with MS Store and XBOX. If some one as the solution to get rid of (to renounce) MS Store and XBOX (Please share the procedure) and continue to worship FS2020 , i vote for him / her.

This issue, (Achievements all gone) has happened after the latest Sim update.
Bush Flights are ok but Log book, whilst having all flights shown, (229 hours), every flight is showing as being completed on 24th July 2024.

Earlier today I discovered this problem. All settings were reset and all activities were set to 0%. All control options too, any way to recover?

If you are on a PC, some folks have had some luck by removing the wgs folder from the sim’s folder structure and then starting the sim.
This forces the sim to use your cloud save when it makes the new one.
If it doesn’t work you can always put the original back.
