Just getting started with this lovely machine and I’m mapping it to my hardware. I wonder if anyone knows the Events/LVARs for Door Open/Close, Gyro Comp switch, the Fuel Pump and of course the Fuel Flow lever (although from the manual that might be a non-starter).
Given the Alouette has wheels and I enjoy rolling take offs, but that it seemed a bit wobbly, I added the following four lines of code to the flight_model.cfg under [FLIGHT TUNING]:
ground_crosswind_effect_max_speed = 10 ; feet per second, default is 80
ground_crosswind_effect_zero_speed = 5 ; feet per second, default is 5
ground_high_speed_steeringwheel_static_friction_scalar = 1
ground_high_speed_otherwheel_static_friction_scalar = 1
The result was a very nice improvement in stability when ground taxiing and rolling take-offs. A simple but effective mod!
Has anyone found a way to disable/remove the volumetric dust that appears every time you hover near the ground? It is incredibly resource-intensive and reduces my framerate to around 10FPS when hovering.
I am using a Dell XPS-15 9500, which can run the sim fine on relatively high settings with all vehicles.
Wow, I am completely blind, thank you for your help.
I’m starting to think this entire setup of having switches alter the attachments/settings of the aircraft is slightly pushed too far here. In moderation, it works (i.e. Piper Arrow III), but at this point a very sizeable number of the switches in the cockpit are dedicated to breaking the 4th wall.
While I think this works for convenience, I’m not so sure about having an entire attachment switch panel, especially since they likely replace actual switches that have real functions.
I said this before, but I used to play FlightGear before I got MSFS. What stuck with me from that sim was the way that it allowed you to open a general aircraft configuration settings menu and replace whatever you want in flight. This means you could decide to replace a 160HP engine with a 180HP engine on a piper cub after already spawning in, or change your tire size, add floats, etc. I’m unsure why nobody has replicated that system in any other sim.
After having flown the Asobo Cabri quite a bit over the years and loving it I got the Alouette for a change a few days ago (so it should be the last iteration). I find weird to need full right rudder to keep the tail rotor in trim with the ball never really centered in flight.
Also as the manual doesn’t give much clues about flying the aircraft (managing the engine for instance), I’d take any good advice in the matter.
Slip indicator is broken on helicopters in MSFS, unfortunately. Usually I don’t need any rudder in cruise in the Alo, what’s your flight technique?
A comprehensive manual for the real thing is available for free at Avialogs. I can post the screenshots of the actual flying technique part here if you want.
707 has a barrel roll capability as has been proven by the test pilots, this doesn’t mean that it is a routine maneuver, prescriptions for execution of which are contained in relevant manuals. Without sources and proper procedures one can’t code a flight model that would perform realistically in a given flight regime
Ok this is out on the marketplace for xbox!! Yes!!
Sadly I cant buy things anymore through the xbox ( it just gives an error) so had to shut it down and start on pc ( I am playing on the cloud) and soon we will see if I cant controll this bird
Man I have waited so long for this!!
Flew 10 meters, then I fell in love!
Worth the wait!! THANK YOU!!!
Flying with a xbox controller is not a problem what so ever!
But did have to choose the heli preset to fly it easier since a bit right antitorque is needed to fly straight and turn right, and with heli preset you just need to tap it and it stays there.
And I need to get used to using the right antitorque and not the left, as on us helis.
