I upgraded from a 5600x and i see huge improvement in fps, but overall smoothness is a bit worse, there seems to be more stutters even with both LODs on 100.
Sorry I don’t get your point - I was replying to someone who IS upgrading to AM5, but to 7900x3d, which is the worst of the three SKUs for gaming
Sorry, I missed that. ![]()
Enter for the team!
A fantastic experience!
I went from a 5600x to a 5800x3d and from an RX5700xt to an RTX4070ti.
I can run at ~90FPS 4K all in ultra with TOD 235 and LOD 200.
I managed to do the tutorial for undervolting the processor and it’s running below 70 degrees with an adjustment of -25 in the cores.
Happy of life!
Wow … 5800x3D + 4070ti in 4k (3840x2160) gives you real 90fps ??? Can’t believe it …
Where do you get your FPS from? Built in dev-mode oder MSI Afterburner?
I was thinik about going from my 3090 to a 4080 but it seems a 4070ti will be still enough … I’m aiming about 60 FPS to v-syc with my 4k monitor@60Hz …
Which graphic settings do you use?
Great News - can you please post your main graphics settings (the very first section of the graphic settings menu)?
Your screenshots are in 1080p and in the FPS counter I see there’s a 1440p render scaling setting, so I’m assuming you’re not running MSFS in full 2160p resolution ![]()
Thank you … ![]()
Looks like 4K DLSS Quality, which brings it down to 1440p, and frame generation on to double the frame rate to me.
That has to be using frame generation.
With a 3090 and a 5800x3D I’m back to being constantly MainThread limited despite all graphics settings being turned all the way up, Lods at 200.
I think if you were using the game in it’s shipped state with a default aircraft you might get something like that fps, but who does that?! lol
Something is definitely askew with the performance of SU12.
This new trend seems to have developed…having got airborne from a fairly heavy 3rd party airport I see capped 60fps as soon as the wheels are off the ground. It stays like that until after I reach cruise but then the fps steadily drops over the course of a half hour or so and settles at about 40fps. Dev mode fps counter is just constantly showing MainThread limit with frametimes of ~25ms.
I then dialled back the LODs to 10/150 and straight away I become GPU limited and see 60fps again. I then raised the TLOD in increments of 50 until I reached 150 and at that point MainThread times are hovering between 15-17ms and it’s only just managing to maintain 60fps.
This can’t be right. Even pushing my resolution to 4224x2376 on a 4K monitor still only loads my GPU to 66%.
What the heck is the sim doing, whilst a jet is sat at 37,000ft that is causing the fps to drop like this? Is this the post update dip in performance thing we see all too often, or has SU12 really hurt MainThread loading again? It is getting a little bit tedious.
With the strongest system I’ve had since MSFS came out (started with 3900x / 2080ti now 5800x3D / 3090 via a 5900x) I’ve never had to have LODs this low to eek out 60fps in the cruise.
Also, as I’ve been typing this my MainThread times have started to rise and are currently at 18-20 and the fps has started to drop correspondingly. This is a bit rubbish to say the least.
Seeing something similar. It gets to its worst when on final approach and landing.
I have a 5800X3D and 4080 and even with Frame Gen on its struggles when landing
yes it is dlss it does a dowscaling to 1440p but it works shown 2160p. In terms of quality, I don’t see any difference.
later at 2200z I pose the screen of the first section.
Thank you very much … ![]()
Again the single threaded rendering of Asobo is dragging modern hardware down. It could be a limitation of DirectX only supporting single cores - DirectX has a long, long history.
XPlane uses Vulkan, which gets closer to the modern hardware to use it far more efficiently then OpenGL. I think XPlane can run each AI plane on a separate core - something like that.
Unfortunately DirectX is limited to XBox architecture (and visa versa) and Asobo are forced to use DirectX by Microsoft. If they had a free choice like XPlane they would be using a different rendering system.
C’est la vie!
120FPS, on the ground, in the air, LAX, LGA, any plane, anywhere, any weather, you name it 120FPS.
Powered by 5800X3D and 4090 Fully water cooled system include NVMe.
Guys, I’ll receive my 5800X3d this week. Now I have the regular 5800X. 32Gb 3600 Ram and RX6800XT.
Any advice regarding Bios setup? SMT on or off?
SMT on ( auto) on my strix board , make sure you get the latest AMD chipset drivers for it , and maybe you could undervolt a little thats about it, just let the V Cache do its thing
I would also consider updating your bios to the latest version or at least verify the version you currently have supports the 5800x3D. Have fun!
