Good to know … Reinstalling MSFS shouldn’t take too long if you keep hold of your package files so it’s definitely worth trying.
Either that, or there’s something fishy going on with Windows.
We should not have to reinstall everything when we change hardware, but empirical evidence has suggested it helped many solve their issues.
Isn’t it always the same with newer tech though? windows always needs to catch up and sometimes that can take a while.
My current bios version is 2806 which was released October 2022. Latest version is March this year v3002.
The X3D was hardly around last october so definitely update those bios as they will be better tailored towards them.
Are you having performance issues on the ground or in cruise? Strangely after the SU12 I had an issue where performance was degrading in cruise. I’ve tried all usual troubleshooting but was unsuccessful. I’ve formatted the PC, clean installed the windows and its better than ever now. If you have the latest bios + amd firmware and you are still not getting the normal x3d performance, before you return it I would do a clean install of windows. There may be something related to your os… just a little suggestion. I hope you will resolve the issue as the x3d is an amazing cpu for the sim.
I just uploaded to the latest bios. If it still doesn’t work I’ll consider reinstalling windows 10 as a last resort.
Reinstalled MSFS…Looks I will have to reinstall windows.
Try DX12 first
After reinstalling windows msfs is still downloading. What on earth is going on with the servers. Normally takes ovly two hours to download. It’s been over 4hours.
Hopefully It will be done by midnight.
Update. After reinstalling windows and MSFS on the latest bios and tweaking the mobo pbo settings it still runs poorly. Freezes when panning. Temps are in the 50s so no overheating.
10700k gets the same performance but it’s much smoother!
I decided to test other games in my steam folder and they all ran well.
Not impressed.
Something is very wrong here. It might be helpful to install MSI afterburner (I assume your familiar). Also, post shots of your MSFS settings.
Out of interest, what’s your internet speed while running FS?
500mbps. I just fired up XP12 and my other steam games and they are working fine. Its not fully utilizing my GPU in MSFS. GPU is an RX6800 non xt
I have the same CPU. My setup is for VR but applicable to your system.
Things that will hammer your CPU are traffic, data settings
Here are my settings: DX12, VRAM usage. A work in progress: Sharing my settings - #13 by WonkyWobblar
The frames I get are in VR. Pancake will be much higher. Give them a go if you want
Hope this helps
I have exactly same experience, 5800X3D 4090 and never used to see FPS degrading in the cruise after starting higher at a payware airport. Only started in last month or so. Temps all fine, all drivers and BIOS updated and latest Win11 patches (maybe one of these is the issue!)
Thanks for that, everything seems normal there. One thing I’m not sure you’ve mentioned is your RAM speed. What does that show?
My ram speed is currently @3200mhz. Any major difference going to 3600mhz. I just don’t understand why MSFS is the only game running poorly on this CPU.
In xp12 I’m reaching triple digit fps in rural areas which is something my 10700k couldn’t achieve.
I don’t think RAM speed will change anything. 3D Vcache mitigates the impact of higher memory frequency, and 3200 is already very good.
Could it be a network issue impacting your performance? Did you try to switch servers? I recall you mentioned your MSFS download was slow.
No, not really, I’m also on 3200. Just ruling things out is all. Only thing I can think of is a GPU driver issue which may explain why other games run well.
Did you already tried DX11? Turn down both LODs if that makes difference.
I think you’re pushing it a little too far using ultra for everything with that gpu.
Try starting with medium/high settings and go from there…
I’m on a 3070 which is argubly a little slower and run most settings on Ultra at 1440p. I get 40fps (locked) in most scenarios.
