Yes, perhaps an activity for a slow weekend. Since I’ve evolved into a better version of myself that no longer chases FPS, I’m going to move on for now
I have used three monitors until recently. Only the main monitor will use AFMF, I believe. The screen you show is quite different than what is available on my Adrenalin screen. Click on your main screen and see if it has more options.
Maybe this? In Windows Display settings, my Monitor 1 (2560x1440p DELL office monitor) is checked as my “Main Monitor” and Monitor 2 (3440x1440p LG High Refresh monitor) is obviously not set as my main monitor.
I think I had originally set it up this way as I only want Monitor 2 to be for an active game, and everything else default to Monitor 1. I remember having issues with not being able to get some things to work well together if my game monitor was Monitor 1.
The one key data point, however, is that Red Dead Redemption 2 AFMF worked perfectly on Monitor 2 when I tried it yesterday. So it’s not just this simple, I fear.
Thanks for pointing this out, been banging my head against a wall figuring out why AFMF wasn’t working.
I just noticed that my Smart Access Memory option was not only turned off in Adrenaline, but was showing as an unavailable feature. I think it may have had something to do with using the preview drivers and/or the current main release driver update. I would suggest people go into Adrenaline and double check this is it’s supposed to be active on your system, especially if you were on the preview driver for FMF. If this happened to you, here’s what fixed it for me.
Boot into BIOS and disable Resizable Bar.*
Save changes and fully boot into Windows.
Reboot back into BIOS and turn Resizable Bar back on.
Save and fully boot back into Windows.
Windows will give a prompt “System hardware changed, please reboot.”
Reboot a third time back into Windows.
SAM should now be re-enabled if your system supports it. If this doesn’t work, here’s a discussion (albeit related to a user’s GPU upgrade) with some other suggestions that helped others.

Maybe this was a fluke that it happened to me, but I didn’t notice it until I went into adrenaline to start trying a new OC process. There wasn’t a notification or anything indicating SAM had been turned off, and I hadn’t even noticed a performance drop. Guess it’s not doing much for me in the first place. Lol
*When disabling ReBar in BIOS, it’ll also disable “Above 4G decoding/memory,” or at least did so on mine. It re-enabled when I re-enabled ReBar, so just a heads up that you may see this as well.
I couldn’t get this to work until I enabeld "hardware accelerated GPU scheduling"and “optimizations for windowed games”. No issues after that. Using DX11 with v-sync disabled. Double framerates yay
This is NOT solved for me. I keep getting a " INACTIVE: Please disable duplicate mode to activate frame generation" when enabling the mode.
I have no idea where to find or de-activate a duplicate mode. Any ideas anyone?
Do you have multiple monitors by any chance?
Yes I do, using 2 other monitors running off onboard motherboard while main monitor running off AMD RX 6750, and a streaming card also runs off the AMD 2nd HDMI port.
I had problems with a dual monitor setup, with monitor 1 running on my Intel iGPU and monitor 2 (game monitor) running on my 6800XT.
I could not get it to work properly. Couldn’t enable, stuttering when “on” in the Adrenaline settings, even the options in settings not appearing properly. It was a mess. I completely turned it off. I wasn’t interested in debugging the system or reconfiguring my hardware setup to test.
Yeah unfortunately this is seeming to cause more problems (although I probably don’t understand what I am doing) and just getting back to square one before changes now is being difficult. Gonna live with my 48 - 54 FPS, flying the PMDG 737 mostly anyway. While that is not a problem, I was hoping for more but you know how it goes. Thanks for any suggestions.
Yes, it is most likely your multi-monitor set up is the reason AFMF is not working - check out the post below. You could always try unplugging everything and see if 1 monitor plugged into your video card will allow AFMF to work.
It’s a weird mix of variables, I think. I noted above that my same setup worked fine in RDR2, but was no good in MSFS. I think there are some hardware and software corner cases still to be worked out.
I wonder if this fix from the latest AMD driver release (24.2.1) will improve performance on multi-monitor setups where a monitor is connected to an iGPU?
- AFMF may be inaccurately displayed on select hybrid graphics configurations, particularly in systems where one of the devices lacks support for AFMF. AFMF must be supported on the displaying GPU to be activated.
Just updated to latest su15.
Fluid motion generation doesn’t work with this version, were we expecting this?
Works fine on my computer.
AFMF works great on my PC also - what version of the Adrenalin driver are you using?
Working for me, as it did during SU15 beta, too.
(Thanks to @WingWarper1 for pushing me to set it up and try it out!)
H’m latest AMD driver, was working OK yesterday, today with new update not…seems to work when menu is displayed but not when plane selected and map, says dx11 or 12 not selected…
strange.
Mine AFMF didn’t worked that well before. It stuttered badly if it got under 60fps.
Now it works better than ever, going steady way over the monitor refresh of 144mhz. Now I have to use sync to low it under 72fps to save energy and fan noise.
