I’ve been retired for yonks but in my working days, if I’d not anticipated having a complete follow up and communication strategy to handle the fall out of a major launch it would have been me who would have been launched - into the street! This aspect of managing the launch has been an unforgivable fiasco. Bugs - yes. But failing to manage and anticipate - No.
The lack of solid communication has been a long running problem and continues to be so. It just leads to speculation and arguments.
By the way as much as I could co-sign that open letter, I am still thankful for MS/Asobo to have created this sim. It’s still a great product and provided they will fix everything, I don’t even mind the rushed release. It may not be perfect, but yet I am having some fun already in this new world they created.
Thank you for voicing our concerns so eloquently. We all want this simulator to be a success and provide the platform that takes into the future for flight simulation. I’m sure Microsoft and Asobo share this dream. They need to show us their commitment.
I’m really enjoying it too. I love VFR and this makes it possible and enjoyable.
This is 100% covering my experiences and also my thoughts about this. Thanks for taking your time and writing this letter. Please MS, don´t get us wrong. But none of your planes, which are stated as realsitic and described on the MS Store with “fly highly detailed and accurate aircraft in the next generation of MSFS” does match your promisses. NOT one!
As I am an simmer who flies tubeliners, I didn´t even get the basics presented! This was a huge disappointment and I decided to leave the MSFS as it is for now. There are compatitors who are offering me what I need to simluate a flight according my expactations.
But on a long haul timeline I would love to switch to a “new glorious world”!
Regards
Marcus
You are entirely right - my expectations are unfortunately much lower after experiencing quite a few disappointing launches of various games through the years. I hope the devs get their act together with regards to communicating with us, and spend the next 3 months getting the basics of the sim up to scratch (navionics and peripheral support being my personal priorities for FSEconomy use).
Baloney. Tired of this kind of nonsense. It was made for a PC and long time simmers are a large portion of the target audience.
Hey, good on you I guess for at least a well written letter. But to Satya Nadella? I am sure he will immediately look at the posts in the forum you provided him a link to.
I agree with quite a bit of what you wrote, though not all of it (not that it matters).
current state of the sim = MS Flight 2.0
I knew this would happen, btw.. all indications throughout the alpha and beta were there, I just refused to lose faith.
Does anybody seriously doubt that they will fix all the issues?
Of course they will. Patience.
Let’s be fair ZBAA is there but the new airport Daxing I think it is is not. The old Istanbool Airport is too but the new airoport there which uses the same ICAO numbe is not and the old one is now in effect closed.
They just did a Q/A stream and also committed to doing it once a month. They are also giving weekly updates and also have a roadmap. Why are people complaining about lack of communication ?
Its only been a week. Some of you guys need to relax for real.
Yeah, let’s just wait a few years, all will be fine.
ah , i see … Daxing is the starfish airport is very new.
they’ve probably shifted their focus to the xbox development…
Nothing will happens on xbox until post release update are released, tomorrow there is web update. Unfortunately info or no info, this have been proved, most people forget quickly after 10 min, it’s basically the same, expecting all fix within 1 week it won’t happens.
From what I collect there has been a lack of regard for this forum by the developers from day zero. To the point that many of us were left at times with the feeling that our purpose was reduced to playing as much as possible in order to send analytics and stress the network. When things got steamed, a Q&A thread initiative was launched, which brought back some answers that sounded vague to many if not funny. When things escalated to another level (voices were that developers were actively following the community at AVSIM) a Q&A was set up live and streaming by one of the Microsoft moderators. A nice and much appreciated gesture that showed for the first time the developers facing actual questions posted in this forum.
Now that the product is out in the market and this forum has become open to the public I believe we need a change in gears. Developers need to realize the need to come down in the trenches and get in touch with the community to engage in an open conversation and discuss about issues. They owe this to a community which over the months has proven to be genuinely driven in its purpose to make this simulator the best ever.
PD- My tipping point were not the stutters, but the somersault planes engage in when toggling into drone mode. Which I have reported to Zendesk but left to believe that it is my “my fault” with some key binding. So please add that to the open letter! Although I doubt Satya Nadella knows any details of MSFS other than its existence.
@puffycumulus
TBM 930. Startup. ITT going over limit. Reported June 6th as part of another bug report and July 11 on it’s own. Still the same in the RC. I agree with you 100% - What was the point of being a tester and reporting bugs?
I think sit report every 5 minutes should be ok (I do’nt want to stress them too much)
