Announced: FSDG Sal Amilcar Cabral GVAC (FS2020 & 2024?)

Was promised last week (the same week they released Réunion) but it’s obviously slightly delayed. Looking at images on their social media, it actually looks very good — is it too optimistic to hope for quality similar to their Kefalonia?

No mention which sim(s) it’s for but FSDG usually develop for both.

Unfortunately, FSDG once was a very decent developer, but they didnt keep up with the Quality of todays better Sceneries. Unfortunately, their airports are mediocre at best. :frowning:

Kefalonia was developed by “Scenic Routes”, a developer that puts ALOT of details into his work. As he did with Ljubliana.

By the look at the screenshots, this is just a standard FSDG scenery and nothing above average.

Have to agree with this. FSDG had some really amazing scenery in the past (still totally convinced by their Hurghada), but if they miss, they usually miss really badly. So, personally I got really careful buying their sceneries anymore, especially as they are in the “High-Price” segment and nearly never on any sales. Although I know that most of their sceneries are native fs2020, I am still really disappointed what they delivered for the Maldives for more than 30€. While the Airport is still OKish, the “detailed” islands are lacking really any love for detail and “maldivian atmosphere".

So, I assume that this will be another 16-20€ addon, and although I am really craving for sceneries covering the Cape Verde islands, I will look really closely before hitting any buy button.

I didn’t know FSDG used at least one indie dev. They could do with getting him to develop a few more airports on their behalf as Kefalonia was stunning.

The only other one of theirs I have is El Hierro, which is no worse than the two alternatives. It at least has a fully modelled landside featuring custom assets. But their Casablance looks poor, and I’m not convinced by Réunion.

Is Hurghada decent, then? What about Sharm?

Love Hurghada, in my opinion one of the best FSDG products…big “but”…definitely NOT worth 25 bucks by today’s measures and I think I don’t know any scenery even for fully detailed mega hubs by other developers being more expensive. I have to admit, it took me quite a while circling around the Buy-button to go for this one.

Sharm…nope…not that it is a bad scenery (if we would use today’s high-end freeware standards), but it is definitely not worth 20€.

I too have frequently hovered my cursor over the ‘buy now’ tab for Hurghada. It is sometimes discounted on the Marketplace (which is when I’ve almost gone for it).

What makes it stand out from FSDG’s other work, exactly? Ground textures? Landside modelling? Terminal interior? Surrounding detail? It’s an airport I’d like to add and you’re not the first to say it’s among their best.

First of all they have added some detail to the surrounding and Hurghada itself. So when you approach you see a lot of the water-parks including 3D modeled water slides and detailed hotel complexes along the coast. Even the night lighting is spot-on and descending into the airport feels really like you are approaching one of the busiest holiday locations at the Red Sea.

The apron area is not that spectacular at all, but this depicts reality pretty well, as there is not so much business on the tarmac like at other airports (guess this is due to the hot conditions). Still they paid attention to the details, i.e. they have detailed out the exits and entries to the bus gates at the base of the international terminal.

And here we are coming to one of - in my opinion - strongest points: The interior of the international terminal hits pretty on spot (although technically a little outdated). Not sure if you have ever been in Hurghada for real, but there is something special standing in the Terminal with the sun setting behind the mountains in the west looking across the apron. And they caught this atmosphere really well and covered the architecture around the Departure Gates.

Also, land-side is rock solid. Nothing outstanding, but you can recognize the structures as they are in reality, including the info booths of the travel agencies right in front of the parking lot.

By today’s standards I would say it should be an airport that is worth 16-19€ that could also go for 13€ in a sale. If a product like Jetstreams Geneva (which I also consider great) is around 22€. Hurghada would rank a little below that (still given the fact that it is a fs2000 product updated for fs2024)

Yes, while some other developers stepped up the game, like MK Studios or Vertical Sim, FSDG had frozen in the past (in term of quality as well as the price they’re asking). BTW. thanks for the info about Scenic Routes, that explains a lot. I own their Ljubljana and was wondering where they had disappeared…

Released, at FSDG’s own store, Simmarket and Aerosoft. Higher end of the price scale, for a relatively small airport.

Hmmm…judging by the screenshots (and there are not too many of them) - nope, not gonna happen for 20 bucks…at least not for me…. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

yeah, really sad, but they cant convince me to buy something anymore unless they really step up the game. The standards are just much higher today. They are one of the last devs out there tho, that just push release after release, within short timeframe. And that shows. Even JustSim has stopped with that. They already showed screenshots of the next one… they move a bit too fast imho, should take a step or two back and work on the quality.

Would really like to see their take on Boa Vista. In my opinion an airport where it is a MUST to go deeply into interior details and its really unique architecture. As the airport itself is small, it would also be worth investing some desing time in the surrounding scenery (as most parts of that island is simply rock and sands + some hotel complexes). Would be something where they could show that they are still up to date in the business and not lossing more and more ground to their competitors.

they are doing mombasa now.

Heard from FSDG’s Thorsten who looks after product support)via email, yes they’ll be doing Boa Vista at some point, they can’t say much about it yet though.
