fully agree! if you fly in certain regions or for training purposes, Railroads can be an essential part of navigation. Right now, we need to buy an addon to make them visible, per region. Atleast they exist and dont cost a fortune…
Why do you boycott the store? Encrypted add-ons? Less money for the devs?
I think it’s important to buy from the store at least once in a while as it’s probably MS’s most important revenue stream for FS. If you want future sims like FS2024 and beyond to exist and be amazing, buy from the store.
Also very convenient with updates imo. The amount of add-on update clients etc. that collects over time is ridiculous.
As for me, I don’t boycott it but buy from 3rd party store if available because:
- No itemized receipts
- Delays in providing updates
Folks, please keep this to the topic, FS Trains.
Discussions about the store/marketplace should be posted in the Discussion Hub.
Also hopping on the bandwagon to mention that my loading time on Xbox has become beyond unbearable. I’ve flown hundreds of miles of tracks at this point and have seen one train from the moment I took off. My last two loading screens were 15 minutes plus to look for and spot exactly 0 trains. I’ve searched around in Wisconsin and West Virginia.
I’ve deleted the add on from my content manager for now, first loading screen took about 30 seconds (my normal loading time) and that’s all I changed was deleting it. If this add on isn’t fixed soon I’ll be asking for money back as $15 for this was already (in my humble opinion) incredibly steep asking price for this add on to only be North America, Then for the density of trains to be almost 0……
Sorry Steven, I wish you luck in looking into these things. I do hope to see trains in the future and have my normal loading time back. I am not giving up yet, but I am just disappointed for now and will be telling my friends to steer clear, at least for now.
I’m rather certain they make a lot less than the Market. One dev said their sales more than doubled here. Another said nearly 90% of their sales were from the Market.
Happy to see the trains there myself.
@StevenPearce833 Miltech’s Supercarrier had also an issue with long load times, it was attributed to MS Encryption, they worked it out with Asobo apparently:
[CRITICAL] Supercarier Pro causing long startup time of MSFS//Long Installation Time (talkyard.net)
Thank you for the details. I’ve managed to reproduce the loading time issue, it is under investigation.
EDIT: I’ve tracked the loading times down to the water exclusion polygons that remove water from tracks. Removed them from the addon and loading times are back to fast. Update submitted with this fixed + more trains. It probably comes out on 22nd.
Yeah, the sim has an issue with water polygons for a while now. The addon Okavango Delta doesn’t work at all anymore, because of it.
That sounds great, although I don’t think I had the loading time issue (PC) in the first place.
Can you quantify “how many more trains” there will be in any way?
Always a train less than 10 miles from you if there are tracks within 10 miles.
The loading time thing depends where you start. Some airports don’t take any longer, but some do.
That’s great news! Do you have any plans to sell outside of the Marketplace (Contrail, SimMarket etc.) ?
Excellent news!!!
Looking forward to the update when it appears.
Do the number of tracks around the airport have any impact on how long a load time will take?
Augusta Regional (KAGS) has a lot of tracks and industry around it, FWIW.
No, I do not.
Excellent news, I’m glad you’re taking these reports on the chin and making the fixes.
Can’t wait to see the update, I’ll happily download again when I see it come through the marketplace.
That sounds good. Just to clarify: If I am directly above some tracks, a train will be 10 miles away or closer, in one of the two directions of the tracks?
Also meaning that if I choose to follow the tracks in the “wrong” direction, I’ll never see it? Or did I misunderstand?
I feel very underwhelmed with this program. The only train I saw was in San Diego.
I followed the tracks from Union Station in Los Angeles North for hundreds of miles and saw no trains…What’s up?
I am curious about a couple things:
- Is there a BNSF freight model or Amtrak Sunset Limited in the mod? Where do the train models come from? Did you have to model each one in Blender, or do they come some train data website?
- Trains are really hard to locate, even when you see the dbug information on screen. Would it be possible to read the location coordinate data to something like the //Par flow pro mod portal function?
- No. The sunset limited route is in the mod, but you will find a Siemens train on the line. In some future version I will add the iconic double-decker Amtrak trains. I am talking with the railroads before putting UP/BNSF locos in because I can sleep better if everything is licensed.
- I have no idea what flow pro mod is. I’m investigating POI markers, so you could get markers on trains if you turn on that option in the sim.
