Got it , Thanks
On my system, with the F-111, I don’t notice any sound level change for noise when opening/ closing the canopy. Anyone else notice that too?
Unfortunately this is true, no change in sound between open/closed canopy.
I have this mod. I like it in that there is a ton of clickability and a lot of detail in the aircraft, especially the cockpit. However, once I get the thing in the air, that’s when I stop liking it. I know the Aardvark isn’t exactly an F-18, but this thing feels like I’m flying a 747. I can’t get it to pull any more than about 3 1/2 G’s. The thing is rated at 7.3 G’s. And its roll rate is certainly higher than 75 degrees per second that I get in the sim. C’mon guys, this aircraft was known for its ability to skim the ground at high speeds relying on its TFR. This thing reacts so slow, I’d be afraid to get it close to the ground.
I thought the handling was terrible. This airframe is rated at 7.33 G’s but I couldn’t get it past about 3.5 G’s even with full stick at moderate to high speeds. The Aardvark was famous for being able to skim the ground at high speeds relying on its TFR. This thing reacts so slow that I’d be very hesitant to get it close to the ground for any reason other than landing. I wish the mods in MSFS were like the old FSX and P3D planes where you could go in and modify the flight model yourself if you knew how. I used to do that all the time.
I have seen this issue with other MSFS mods. The L-39’s in the Reno Air Race mod have the same problem; they handle like dump trucks. And on those, I have worked on L-39’s for a living for the last 17 years and have flown in them many times so I know how they fly.
I wish a guy could contact GKS and get them to tweak the FM a bit.
As I recall, the GKS F-111 we had in FSX back in the day was a whole lot more fun to fly.
The first flight model on release was criticised as far too sensitive, which it was, but maybe they overdone it into the opposite direction while trying to improve on the feedback here.
But speaking of the TFR - any news on that? GKS @Al13X7895 said back in December they want to find a way to implement it
Hi here,
We are going to release the f111 update by the end of the summer. It will contain the functionality of navigation equipment (Original GPS etc). Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to implement a full-fledged TFR Terrain Following Radar functionality. Waiting for support from Osobo.
Thank you! Look forward to the update! Will it have a fix for the noise level to change between when the canopy doors are opened or closed?
Any chance of a non-Marketplace release?
ORBX perhaps…
Is there a paintkit for this model?
I have the one for FSX but it’s not good
Is the F-111 set up correctly when starting at the runway with running engines?
That’s usually how I start. There are a few switches to click, but for the most part it’s ready.
Anti-skid On
Yaw Damper On
L. Spike Override
R. Spike Override
These will clear the codes.
Air Source Both
This will keep the windows from fogging.
The rest to taste and mission. I like the Pitch and Steer indicators on the HUD.
How do I redownload the weapons patch??? Aviasimhd is completely down and doesnt work.
It will be fixed soon.
Looks like an Aviasim/GKS FOXBAT will be releasing soon, I hope in tandem an F111E update will drop. It’s been a few long months since February, hoping to see the update soon. And hoping TFR won’t be long behind!
Any plans to upgrade the flight model to MSFS2024 standards when that comes around? Heard the FM SDK will be much better, so I hope it gets touched up in there.
Cheers :))
hell yea
But forward-looking TFR is possible already.
Here’s a video: Overflying the island of Corsica West to East, at high-speed in the default F18. This is entirely flown hands-off and on terrain-following autopilot, set to 200 ft. There’s a few close scrapes…
The black-white window shows the terrain ahead (in green) to a distance of 3 nm out. This is a very early development preview.
That’s cool! I wonder if that’s able to get the terrain elevation data via SimConnect or if it needs its own terrain database to combine with the coordinates & vectors from the sim…
I haven’t tried it in a while, but doesn’t the IFT Tornado also have a working if rudimentary TFR?
