[ANNOUNCEMENT] JRF-6 Goose | Big Radials

I joked recently the Goose handles like an old car until you get her on the ground!

I currently have my throttle setup with one axis the throttle for both engines and the other axis for mixture. I can see where having the engine throttles separate would be helpful in certain situations but I also fly several single engine planes and I like my current setup for those. I am going to look into having both setups and switching between them when I fly the twin engine planes.

You may get better results by changing mixture to prop in the Goose.

I tend to move the mixture with a mouse or controller when I am away from my quadrant.

I find I fiddle with the prop more in the Goose.

Differential thrust works very well on the Goose, so a throttle for each engine is really handy when taxiing on water.

I trained in the Albatross back in the ā€˜70s, these birds are lumbering stable Search and Rescue platforms and definitely not sports cars  So yea, I understand what you are saying, I say, enjoy the descent

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but is anyone else having an issue where there’s a constant ticking/clicking sound when the gyro pilot is disabled? It’s absolutely awful and honestly kinda kills the whole plane for me.

I’m on Series X and have tried reinstalling, but it’s still there.

Here’s a clip of what I’m talking about.

Fairly sure that’s the elevator trim noise, not sure why you’re hearing it though. My first thought would be to watch the trim wheel (on the right side of the left seat, you have to sit in the right seat and look at the left seat to watch it) while you trim one way then pause, then trim the other way. If it’s not the trim wheel you should hear that as well as this ticking, and if the trim wheel doesn’t stop moving when you stop moving it then there’s your problem, something in your controls is triggering the trim.

I’m doubly suspicious of that now that I’ve paid attention to the video, it looks like it stops when you turn the gyropilot on which would override your control input.

Just firing mine up now, I’ll compare noises  Yup, that’s the trim wheel noise.

I wonder if it’s happening because I have AI trim enabled? I’m gonna hop back on and see if that’s my fix!

Edit, sanity restored! AI auto trim was causing the issue.

Yes, that’s probably the cause.

Cheers! Will check those out - many thanks!

I am doing something wrong and I need some help. I installed what I believe is the latest patch. Now quite often when I open the throttle to take off or when adjusting for landing the left engine dies. And it is only ever the left one. Sometimes I can restart it with it occasionally sputtering out white smoke.
I am totally at a loss. As both engines are treated equally I do not see how it should always be the left that fails. It seems to happen more often if the throttles are moved quickly. Both engines have fuel, are run below 30" and report the same temperatures. Any help is appreciated. I did not have the problem with the inital release.

I had similar problems with the left engine in the previous version. The latest update fixed that. Are you sure your Goose is up-to-date?

Thank you, I missed an update -.-

Sadly that was not it. I do not know what is different now. I cannot even reliably replicate it. All of a sudden left engine down again. With the carb heat (levers on cold, 2nd engine showing 17°C) stuck at 50°C!

2000 is really where that Wasp buzz takes over. Glorious sound. If the Wasps aren’t uh wasping, just decrease RPM until you hear the trademark drone. That’s the sound of cruising.

I have this exact issue too with the left engine only dying, and I think there’s still some lingering strangeness with the fuel system causing it. It seems to only happen at certain MAP / mixture settings and altitudes. Closing the fuel crossfeed valve seems to fix it - give that a try, hope it helps!

I really wish I would google this first before disassembling my joystick (it had a fault on Z axis before so I was sure it’s the hardware problem). I’m baffled that I just noticed this now since I have been flying this plane almost all the time. It’s definitely my favorite.

Yeah I have that issue.

I finished the Bush trip using real world maps with reference to the vectors and times which were still available to me, but there is no guarantee I followed the flight plan that I was meant to follow.

Hey @ptisinge77, unfortunately due to an issue with MS Marketplace we had to redo some of the Bushtrip which means that if you were currently flying the trip, you would have the issues you experienced. You do have to start the trip afresh I’m sorry.

Again this was an issue with MS Marketplace and not with the bushtrip itself, but the issue invalidated the bushtrip so that it was not available to marketplace owners. Worst part was that they didn’t tell us it was an issue until the most recent update, however we have worked with them to update their processes and so issues like this should be less going forward for all developers

Sorry you had to start again, but you did say it was your favourite

Placing a document in the aircraft document folder with all the text and images from the bush trip would help users with this issue a lot.
