Every time there is an upgrade, for a few days the Sim tells me that my bandwidth is too low and I am thrown offline. Often only for a couple of minutes.
Needless to say test show every time that my Fibre connection is actually fine and firing on all cylinders.
I must assume, but could be wrong, that the MS servers are under pressure with folks still downloading
the updates and that therefore there is a lag servicing connections. Cant explain it otherwise. All this normally corrects itself after 10 days or so.
Assuming I am correct and the bottleneck is at the server side for a few days, isnt it slightly arrogant for MS to assume that it is the player’s bandwidth connection?
I can fully understand sudden peaks of load on the servers but I would just appreciate it if then the error message could be a bit more precise so I dont have to go into ‘bandwidth testing’ mode only to find that at my end all is fine.
This isnt major, but it is getting a bit annoying.
(end of rant)
Very bad for me tonight. Continual “Lost Connection”, and my “bandwidth is too low”, which based on previous experience it certainly isn’t.
Impossible for me to use at the moment, so I’ve given up trying.
Certainly annoying that they phrase to be our fault, rather than admit their servers can’t cope.
Which server are you connected to and have you tried changing?
No issues with USA East for me (in Canada).
People in the weather bug thread are reporting this too – definitely possible that it’s somehow connected to that issue.
It’s a poorly worded message. Just means the data connection between you and the sim isn’t working sufficiently well. Could be your end, MS/Asobo’s end or somewhere inbetween.
ditto - i had a bandwidth warning mid flight - i went in to change it back to bing data (i had weather, traffic and photogrammetry off) and it CTD. a little annoyed now.
Now the data flow seems to be an issue and despite me only wanting bing data i still have issues.
Anyway - hopefully this is a temporary problem related to the weather issue (or maybe the new Antonov Mriya is killing the servers in preparation for launch)
since the update I’ve spent hours watching loading screens and trouble shooting something that I can’t fix. The bandwidth message makes you think it’s on your end, but its not.
here’s a clip from my YouTube channel:
I’m eastern USA, not working well for me.
Slow for me during peak times in the US. Later tonight I’m sure it will be fine. I have a 1000 up and down network connection. It’s not your ISP it’s their servers, they seem to get overloaded on weekends and evenings. I never have this issue at odd times, very early in the morning e.g. Other game servers are working well for me
No I havent thought of that, maybe I should. I am in Europe and having connected to servers further away one does have to factor in the additional lag. European servers have proved to be more resilient in normal use. I also know the issue disappears after a few days. But I may follow your suggestion to see if it helps.
It just find it somewhat irritating that MS isnt more precise with their error message. But thanks for the suggestion. I had forgotten about rhus option to change server.
Yes except that it is perfectly possible to pinpoint the bottleneck.
I used to run a network where factories in 15 countries were connected to our systems here in the UK. We certainly would know where the lag was at any time. Certainly if it was at the server end. Results of ping tests are simply intercepted and interpreted for example. The point of my post was my annoyance is precisely with the wording. I want it changed. Be more precise.
Yes that certainly confirms my I impression also, particularly at the time of an upgrade. Annoying as this has been commented on before. Time NS does something about it or at least be more precise about the issue rather then telling us that it is ‘our bandwidth’.
I have just been experiencing the low bandwidth phenomena too!
Charles.
Call me a cynic but you’ll never get MS, or any other media organisation, to admit the problem just might be at their end.
I can just see the explosion on here, probably take the internet down!
This is 100% on Asobo/ MS end. It started for me after AAU1 and the bugs section of this forum has a lot of users complaining about this very issue, including me. They need to fix this asap it’s a major game breaker
I have 400mpbs internet connection, hard wired. It’s not my bandwidth. Plus the annoying message that pops up mid-screen to tell you you’ve been disconnected from the servers and forcing you to click ok.. this needs to be removed as well
Recently I’ve been getting this error every flight that I do. I don’t really know what’s going on but it really is annoying. Each time I get this error, I check my internet speed etc. seeing that everything is as it should be, but msfs is not happy with what I have.
Can the title of this thread be changed to ‘annoying low bandwidth error ruining the sim’ to make it easier to identify? For both users and the devs who should be looking into this. Its more specific and accurate, as I was looking for a thread about this but couldn’t find one other than the bugs section, which is more hidden and harder to find.
Google maps mod installed? If yes try > https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/low-bandwidth-message-connection-lost-switched-offline/464121/111
Well my original post was initially about the wording of the message but I take your point and seeing how many people seem to be suffering the same issue I have changed the title as you suggested.
with respect it is maybe slightly confusing to post this in this thread. There is no mention in this thread about Google maps and it confuses the issue.
