I used the Vor on G1000 till today but now I’m missing something.
I navigate using an NDB then I set up a VOR frequency (see the freq both on NAV1 and NAV2 properly tuned on left top of the image. ON 110.9 is properly detected as GHE.
Despite that I cant have the CDI green indicator working even if I’m pretty close.
Both using VOR 1 and VOR 2 the green arrow is not aiming at the VOR.
Might it be that it is a TACAN and not a VOR?
That’s what it looks like to me too. The sim doesn’t differentiate between the two. I just verified that the GHE doesn’t pick up on the HSI, but the VOR at the airport next door on 117.70 works just fine.
30 seconds later… LIPL is a military field, so that navaid is probably a TACAN-only beacon. LIPO is a civilian airport right beside it.
Yeah. it’s definitely a TACAN. I knew it actually when planning but as I found out the frequency I forgot about it and get mad assuming was me doing something wrong with the G1000. In fact being it a TACAN apparently allows still to identify the signal and get the distance… but not the heading and proper radial. Or at least that’s how it’s simulated.
