I think its a bug. I only got them to work sometimes, do not know why.
What works for me is: Place the aircraft manually on the Airport, do not use a parking spot and select “shutdown” in the starting options. The aircraft spawns with all the needed switches on and also the hydraulic valve open…now the brakes always work (for me).
Hello, do you have any idea if we’re gonna get some 2024 love for an-2 like fixes, new features, career, etc.?
Here is a link to the Russian forum.
At the bottom of the page, follow the link to download the mod. One of the users created a mod for the An-2 versions of wheels, skis and floats. The changes only affected flight dynamics, braking on the ground, and an attempt to adjust the propeller’s reverse for the float version. The mod was created for the 2020 version, but it also works in 2024. Try it, the author wants to know the opinion of the community about the changes.
And so. Updated mod. The ball on the flight instrument and the clock have been adjusted. The fuel tap on the pedestal (handle with red ball) is now always open during cold start. Corrected version on skis. All changes have been consolidated into one folder. As always, unpack it and put it in the Community folder. Thanks to Anvlamat user for the mod!
I think the fuel selector is broken and it has somerhing to do with loosing fuel pressure. Wenn this bug occurs, I‘m able to bring the engine power back for a minute by using the wobble pump.
Yesterday I wasn‘t able to switch the fuel tank in flight. Klicking the fuel switch always went to off position und back to right tank. Nothing between. I also ran into the loosing engine power bug by trying to switch the tanks. However after keeping the engine alive with the wobble pump and klickling the fuel selector several times the engine power went back to normal. Very strange.
Unfortunately, at the moment the aircraft is completely not adapted to the 2024 version.Do not use the “Both” tank group. Before turning on the engine, set left or right and do not touch the switch in flight
I think it works like this: in '24 there is a noticeable lack of power compared to same aircraft and situation as in '20 (I have and use both so can compare directly).
If the aircraft has high installed power it might go unnoticed except it behaves at sea level like it is up in the mountains. But anything with modest power suffers and some can’t take off unless almost empty and on a long airfield. For example the Curtiss Jenny needs nursing along in '20 - and the real thing is famous for low power. But in '24 it only flies if we slew to a few thousand feet and ‘drop it’. Or fly on the trims in ground effect. So that proves the fault lies with the '24 game engine’s interpretation of what worked in '20
I was curious about this so just tested it at Bora Bora and not seeing this behavior at all. Takes off just fine. Granted that was a runway hot start, so if you’re seeing this with cold starts perhaps there is an issue there?
Not cold starts - places in europe mostly below 1000ft QNH, mixture set on run up for max revs when static - little difference - tail up asap, as into wind as possible.
So no noticeable difference for you when you compare this or other aircraft back to back on both sims then?
Nope. All good here, in SU-1 beta land for me.
So when i compare the same thing on the sims one after the other - back to back with identical flight setup I find the above but when you do the same back to back - no difference.
Interesting. So something else must be doing it. Of course we all have different rigs and different controls - but mine are Hall Effect Sensor main controls and set to zero dead bands & max sensitivity on both sims. I also check by pressing F4 that full throttle is set if in any doubt.
A tough one to figure out. Asobo might be interesed in my rig, controls, sim version (Store or Steam) vs yours and our test resuts.
brakes are not working, with parking brakes as well.
The brakes work, but not the first time. I load the flight in the parking lot and immediately go to the main menu, then load it again in the parking lot and the brakes start working.
It seems it’s not fixed yet. Such a shame.
I just tried the AN2 today. SU2/steam.
It flew just fine cruised at 200 KPH all in the green. There is still the issue with the fuel selector. I flew on the right tank but to me everything seemed fine. Plenty of grunt. The brakes worked. The handbrake worked so yay?
Is it further broken? Even with the fuel selector to Left or Right, it will not start. What am I missing, I have power, fuel set to left tank, primed, fuel pressure , the engine will spin but doesn’t ignite.
I just got 2024 and am really hoping for a fix. It’s August 2025 and still this plane will barely take off.
