Any Fix for Odd Transparant Vertical Strips in Cockpit Windows

Nice one on the blinds.

DX11 does solve the issue.

The available ‘DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer’ seems to be for up to DirectX 11. I did carry out an ‘sfc /scannow’ from a command prompt to check DirectX 12 installation, a number of times.

Agree on the cloud textures or how they are drawn on the area where the cockpit windows are present. It also seems like the density of the clouds being displayed will make the banding worse. In really heavy weather the bands end up so bad it is virtually impossible to use MSFS.

Seems to really affect the front windows and the side windows much less.

Also found changing the ‘volumetric’ clouds setting can sometimes temporarily get rid of the effect but it soon returns. Even turning this setting off does not seem to remove the effect. And again with a clear sky, the effect is not present.

A weird one!!

I think it may be a manifestation of what some Nvidia users are getting without the CTDs aka a vram issue. However if AMD and MS already know about it then I’m sure they’ll be working on a fix (but I’m sure it’s delicate stuff so expect some delay)… The 6700XT was one of the cards I was looking at but then the scalpers ruined the prices, it sounds like I had a lucky escape.

For the record, FS2020 does not use a set of cloud “texture” files. The clouds are procedurally created using ray marching.

I dunno … maybe this helps

Monty Python always helps

So it starts to feel that it could be corrected in software even if the Navi 22 is the only one involved. Maybe a patch to process things slightly differently if confronted with the 22.

But then again why does the Navi 22 seem to be the only one affected by this issue!!

Is Microsoft even looking into this?

Yes, is a problem with Radeon RX 6700 and RX 6750.
I have a Powercolor RX 6750 xt and I’ve been annoyed about it for a while. Is probably not really on the error list.

Thank you for the link.

Seems the only input in that thread is from users and the thread started in July.

Not like it is hard to reproduce to identify issue - Seems a 100% event by running MSFS in clouds on a 6700 XT using DX12. Would be nice to see some feedback from MS.

I had it on but it’s painful to delete and set it again every time the game gets an update. Also, if you go to a smaller size, you don’t get the free space back! On Xbox Series X.

Tbh I didn’t even know Xbox even had a choice in the matter. As I said elsewhere it’s more for slow and low, for anything else it’s not that much use especially as with every update or LOD change it needs maintainance. PC users can avoid this with an 8GB rolling ram cache but that then takes it of circulation for any other programs etc.
