So I have been having issues with MSFS on and off for a while now. However recently I did a complete reformat of my drive and a clean reinstall of Windows and the game was working fine. however yesterday the game decided CTD on the first loading screen before the menu but didn’t give me any errors. It was still crashing today and while there were no errors in Windows Event Viewer. I did find an error in the reliability monitor which suggested the cause might be related to the C++ redistributable (D3D11.dll) which I reinstalled however I am still getting the crash, and when I look at the monitor again there was an error, but this time I couldn’t see what caused the crash.
I had much the same issue today after the minor update. I’ve tried this before and it’s worked, and it worked today. My guess is that something is downloaded and should be processed but isn’t, and the app CTDs as it gets to the loading screen.
FAIR WARNING: THIS MAY NOT HELP AND MAY MAKE THE PROBLEM WORSE (but if MSFS won’t start for you, then the next step might be a complete reload anyway).
What you can try is to go to your main directory (I have Steam:
Delete the directories that were downloaded in that last group and start MSFS again. That usually works with one restart, but today I had to start MSFS two or three times before it got all the way through.
Thanks for the help. I tried what you suggested but unfortunately, it did not work. However, I just tried loading the game in safe mode and could get to the menu, so I’m not sure if that means the issue is being caused by a MOD or not or whether it could still be something else. The last MOD I installed was on the 2nd of this month and the game was working fine up until now.
Thanks, I will give those things a try. However, I did try starting the game in safe mode and was able to get to the menu. Does this mean the issue is most likely caused by a 3rd party MOD or could it still be something else? The last one I installed was on August 2nd and it was working fine until now.
