No mods, turned off AI planes (as suggested), etc. After 2+ hour flight (TBM) my FPS goes from a constant 55-60 to 15-25 with severe stutters making it hard to control. Odd thing is my CPU is still under 15-25% load and I’m just flying in the clouds. So my system isn’t showing any real load but FPS drops off. I’m starting to think Asobo’s architecture is busted…
I completed a 3hr 50min flight today in the CJ4 with the all the Working Title mods, A32NX, dozens of scenery mods too. I don’t use Developer mode or Legacy mode, I have the latest nVidia drivers installed and I only use the built-in Xbox Game Bar to check FPS, CPU & GPU, VRAM & RAM usage. FPS is locked at 20, all graphics are on Medium. Typically CPU & GPU run at around 45%, RAM at 50% but VRAM is up at 95% most of the time. Specs are:
i5-7600K CPU @ 3.80GHz
16GB 3200mHz Ram
Gigabyte GTX1050 Ti 4gb
I just got done doing six hours in the TBM and had no issues with FPS or anything else. Sorry, Mate. One of the flights was a solid five hours.
No mods, Live/Live.
Did you check the temperatures of your CPU? Just in case it is a thermal thing.
I did an 11 hour flight (unmodded) with the CJ4 a couple of days ago for one of the achievements. No issues. I regularly do 3-4 hours flights, heavily modded, no issues. I have an ancient 4970K/GTX970 rig and run on High+ settings at 1080, mostly very smooth.
Are you running any other programs in the background. Even a browser can give you stutters if it uses hardware acceleration. I occasionally get stutters if I have Google Earth running in the background. The stutters go away as soon as I close Google Earth.
I do have a wonky power supply that restarts my computer randomly, usually once a day, often during a flight. But I know it has nothing to do with MSFS, because it happens when playing other games as well.
Maybe you need to look at your setup before automatically blaming Asobo.
does it happen too when your pc is idling?
Rarely, but it has happened once or twice with no GPU load as well.
Oddly, the FPS did come back later in the flight but just to 45-50 FPS. Which was fine. It’s odd, I don’t know what it is. Perhaps a combination of the weather and location.
