I’m trying to fly the 737 MAX since PMDG is not yet stable..
But (AGAIN AND AGAIN) is ALSO the 737 Max still buggy?
Like the LNAV and VNAV seems to don’t work…
Anyone having the same issue?

Seems to work for me (vnav isn’t the greatest but it mostly works). After you take off you have to make sure you’re on the gps flightplan before engaging autopilot/lnav. You should also be able to take off, engage heading mode then press lnav. Set your heading to intercept the flightpath then lnav should automatically enable.
Also, go through the fms and make sure there’s no flight plan discontinuities. Go to the “legs” page and click through the flightplan, make sure there are no gaps
HI.. Everything is correct, sometimes it works, sometimes no, so its a bug .
Tks a lot
you must be on an intercept course to the flightplan for lnav to engage
No- everytime I’ve set up for LNAV it does not follow it- The PFD shows LNAV as well as VNAV SPD set, AP1&AP2 engaged, as well as LNAV and VNAV selectors. aircraft just bypasses waypoint and flies in straight heading. what a POS this is. might as well make the Asobo airliners with a “Hot Wheels” logo on the outside since all they seem to be are coded with MS Flight parameters..
I’m struggling as well. Is there a separate button to enable GPS following to allow for LNAV to intercept?
tI helped me yesterday when I lost LNAV and VNAV working in flight - I switched OFF the AP via the Autopilot Disengage bar in the MCP and after this I switched those AP1&AP2 again, activated LNAV and VNAV and they started to work proprerly but not immediately in VNAV channel - it took some time.
Thanks, I’ll give it a shot and report back.
I have found that if I don’t use VNAV and set my vertical speed to 2000 FPM and set speed for 240 knots until reaching 10,000 feet and then increase speed to 290 knots until 18,000 then switch to Mach. Using LittleNavMap to create my FP and then enter it into EFB works great. Make sure you select “exe” in the FMC.
This is how the 737 works in real life, I saw the same issue in FSX and X-Plane.
The 737 FMC needs a complete route in order to use VNAV and if there’s any discontinuity the LNAV will stop working at the first break along the magenta line.
You can click the LEGS page on the FMC and just click the button beside the next waypoint and move it up to the discontinuity to complete the track, make sure to click execute when it turns green. This should at least get LNAV working for the entire flight.
You may also have to finish filling in the blank squares □□□□□ in your performance page to get VNAV working correctly, things like fuel, weight and the performance cost index which you can just enter “100” if you don’t know it.
Hope this helps.
Wow, that’s a huge help. Followup question:
“move it up to the discontinuity to complete the track”
Do I
Is that the process of moving the points up?
Followup: this worked as well as fixing any discontinuities in the FMS
I have got it to work twice out of 20 flights. it just doesn’t seem to want to work. LNAV/VNAV works on the other MSFS 2024 aircraft I fly such as the Vision Jet and Longitude.
LNAV rarely works for me. Sometimes the aircraft does a hard bank away from the magenta line when I engage LNAV. LNAV/VNAV works well on the Vision Jet and the Longitude.
Select the waypoint below the discontinuity and bring it up to the discontinuity line.
And what if there are no discontinuity?)
LNAV/VNAV on the 737 Max doesn’t really work. It works maybe 10% of the time for me and has not worked for a long time. I just fired up the Asobo 787. LNAV/VNAV is easy peasey. The difference is unreal.
The issue for me is that the largest jet for Career Missions is the 737 Max.
If you have flight plan it works. If you haven’t it doesn’t work.
No. It fails even if you have flight plan. It starts fine, however if you change the mode to “heading” or change your arrivals it may fail. Sometimes it is possible to reanimate LNAV switching Off and On the AP, sometimes it helps to delete Discontinuity. I did not try yet other options like changing the Leg to the the next navpoint.
