I am just so tired of the constant issues that have arose from the moment this game was installed. I still cannot believe that after all this time, we’ve been let down this badly. I cannot speak for other players but I know for a majority of Xbox players (of which I don’t see a lot of representation anymore (especially regarding 2024)) we’ve quite obviously been left as an after thought.
Before I go any further I’m completely aware that the sim was never built for Xbox nor should it have ever been released. But that’s exactly the problem I’m so very ■■■■■■ about. So much money wasted on even the base game, no addons, no extras just purely the base sim and the textures don’t load, LOD is utter ■■■■, loading times are longer than 2020, cockpits don’t even load themselves, multiple CTDs and not to mention the eye watering anti-aliasing that is a very painfully obvious cover up for the fact that the sim simply cannot run on Xbox. The only way it ever is going to is with the old sim architecture, and what a huge shame that is for the £60 that’s gone to waste.
I say all this purely because I’m so upset the sim had so much potential yet I cannot even play any of the new modes nor even get past the first career steps due to the plethora of bugs that keep showing up. Overall it’s absolutely insane that I don’t see more talk about how terrible the sim is for Xbox considering the large majority of people that bought it, and just like those before me and forever to come, it is unacceptable we are public beta testers who had to pay their way in for an unfinished product.
What really annoys me is I knew from the moment they announced and I quote “With very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” which is the biggest lie I’ve ever been sold as I can confidently say only 2 of my 20 paid addons are even “available for Xbox”, and that’s not even mentioning the bloody marketplace and the fact not even all of the premium deluxe planes have released yet.
I’m starting to feel the same as you about 24 now. Very upset and disappointed. I fly airliners mostly, and none of the default aircraft will work at large airports without a CTD or major stuttering. Going back to 2020 is smooth as silk and still the better SIM, as it works 99% of the time. I love the lighting on 2024 better though and the clouds look much better too than 2020. I have come to the realisation now though that I don’t think it will ever run properly on Xbox due to its limitations. I hope I’m wrong and somehow the Devs manage to get it working as well as 2020, but I’m not feeling very optimistic any more, especially as we are over 4 months into it, and I still can’t use any of the hand crafted airports without getting either black screens or a CTD.
The more I try out 24, the more stressed and angry I get, so I just use 2020 mostly now.
It shouldn’t have been released, simple as that, and they would be better off writing it off entirely and developing 2020 even more.
I agrees 2024 does not function on X box. Loading flight path in whatever source whether sim brief or in msfs 2024 is not recognized by aircraft and they fly in circles or totally off course ‘’‘l
…’
I’m on Xbox and am really enjoying MSFS2024. I fly mainly helicopters and GA usually below 1,000’ AGL with live traffic and weather, PG on and multiplayer on. I’ve had a couple of flights in the A330 as well.
Strange how we can have totally different experiences but 2020 was the same according to the forum.
I started on Game Pass but quickly decided that 2024 was better for me than 2020 even though I had no issues with that either. I bought Premium Deluxe after a couple of days.
SU2 Beta is a different story for now but hopefully they’ll get it sorted eventually.
I think I’ve got to the place where I’m not asking “when” MSFS2024 will be fixed - but whether it’s possible to fix it?
Every now and again if flashes with brilliance - but overall the cost of that brilliance isn’t justified - in terms of all the glaring issues and bugs. I didn’t enrol in the SU2 beta - having enrolled in the SU1 beta because the live SU1 version is really no more than an early beta release in practice.
Whilst I have been told on this forum by a CM that the development team do own COTS Xboxes, it is clear that they don’t do enough testing on them because there is a tangibly huge gulf between what the team create on their emulators and what is released to us as product. It would be a very easy and quick win for the team to make a big improvement here - but I don’t see any will to do it - or even an understanding that problems like not being able to enter text into the MSFS2024 EFB using the pop up keyboard still isn’t possible 4 months after launch. And the LOD issues? Backward compatiblity. I don’t do career mode but from a few minutes testing in the SU1 beta, I’m just glad thst it wasn’t a driver for me - it’s another unfinished idea.
Overall I think MSFS2024 will go down as a massive failure - let’s all hope it isn’t terminal for the future of the simulator in the long term - it shouldn’t be - because MS/Asobo can and should do a lot better than this!
Intriguing, I’m pretty sure it’s honestly up to your internet connection as that is entirely what the sim is based on, which would make the most sense as to why. For some of us it’s literally impossible to achieve better connection due to various factors that are out of our control
Interesting you say that, in my opinion it’s not fixable unless they re-architecture the sim, but use a combination of downloads and streaming. From the moment they decided to completely pivot to streaming it went completely downhill for a lot of players
I absolutely sympathise with your thoughts here its exactly this issue, the fact we are 4 months in already and the sim is still unusable is absolutely horrendous and the least I’d expect is Asobo to speak up and notify the community that our voices are heard because the lack of communication is unacceptable and only makes us more annoyed
You may well be right that a big change the architecture could fix it - that’s something I don’t know enough about, unfortunately - I hope they’re looking at it if it’s possible…none of us want the sim to fail ultimately,..
Absolutely, for the longest time I was on the side of hoping that the sim would just magically get better after launch as I believed it was only a days thing, a couple days later and people still struggling to get in. Not only that but as soon as people did get in, the bugs were immediately apparent from the first few people who started using the “beta test” of this release.
I wouldn’t be so upset if Asobo weren’t so adamant that everything would work better and faster than the previous instalment, that all our addons would work and if they didn’t charge such a high bloody price for an unfinished game
As a former Xbox X user I can tell you one thing guys. I was so tired and frustrated that I sold the box in january and moved to my pc which I use mainly to work. I don’t want to start another xbox vs. pc war but after long road of graphical devastation of msfs on the box I realized that it is road to nowhere. By the way it’s not true you have to spend gazillions to enjoy msfs on pc. If you are GA and turboprop flyer you can enjoy the sim for the price of two xboxes x and forget the big part of problems you had with it. Is it a lot? In my opinion it was worth to gave it a shot. I emphasize it’s my experience to encourage you…
I would totally move to PC, or at least have moved to PC a while ago when I bought 2020 for the first time and even there encountered small bugs, but a lot of people seem to forget that there are Mac owners there who simply can’t download it. And no I’m not paying money for a windows emulator
Not disputing those who’re having bad experiences on Xbox - I can only hope these are soon resolved. Can appreciate these things are frustrating.
For me, FS2024 blows my mind and the negatives (which will hopefully be gradually fixed) are massively outweighed by the beauty of this game. My first exposure to “flight sims” was playing Solo Flight with my Dad on our C64. Ever since I’ve been hooked and had pretty much every version of every flight sim over the years. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to one day fly overhead in such amazing quality and detail. Flight over Liverpool - not the best res I know, just a screen grab I had on my phone via the Xbox app.
I did use to experience frequent CTDs - but lately (and in the latest Beta) I have only had 1 CTD in many hours of playing. Xbox results seem to vary massively, which is puzzling.
Over the years I have spent ridiculous amounts of cash on PCs, solely to play flight sims on. Now with job, work travel, family, overgrowing garden etc I rely on my Xbox for my flight simming and think that £500 or so is an absolute bargain to be able to play FS2024. I was at Nice airport (in the game) last night and just had to stand on the apron watching in awe as all the scheduled flights taxied and took off - gone are those awful planes with pointy noses and no undercarriage, it was mesmerising. Xbox lets me use my Velocity yoke and I also have the MIAP Pro, which is an absolute gem. I used to spend much more money on PCs around the time of FS98-FS2004 ACOF.
I would miss some airliners (especially my favourite A310), but if at some point XBox users are limited to flying GA, I would remain extremely happy with the game. Only my opinion, but inclusion of airliners for Xbox users does seem, to me, to be a difficult aspect to make work satisfactorily.
What Xbox type do you have? I ask because I have never had the cockpit do that to me
I’m on series X with 70mb internet connection which isn’t great but it’s usable. I keep photogrammetry off as it doesn’t work for me on 2020 never mind 2024 but fly with live weather and multiplayer on. I keep live/AI traffic off as that causes performance issues with all of these aircraft moving around at large airports but again, it’s the same for me on 2020
So I wouldn’t say that it’s completely unplayable. But then I only fly in the inibuilds A20N and A330 so not reliant on the broken EFB and I stay away from handcrafted airports. And this seems to work. Ok it’s not ideal and hopefully things will improve. Apparently 2020 took 5 sim updates to be usable so I have faith that it will get there eventually
Needless to say I’m not on the latest beta as it only works for GA
Yeah, again its so interesting to see the wild variations in quality from many different users, if your sim isn’t acting up for you or giving terrible quality them I’m very glad for you and hope that you continue to enjoy the sim for what its worth. This is the very reason I don’t think it should be entirely pulled from the Xbox store, as some have it fine, but for the others who are currently experiencing an unplayable experience, it truly is baffling
Series X for me, my internet is fine but the textures, planes and even cockpit refuses to load most of the time. Its such a shame because every time I try to fly back in 2020, as beautiful as it is, there’s some aspect that’s missing to it that 2024 seems to get right, most likely the life on the ground and within airports, however again these planes don’t load correctly (worse than they did in 2020) and ruin the whole experience, especially when ground textures look rubbish
The sad part is that MSFS 2024 was supposed to be that grand architecture update that fixed much of this. It’s a huge disappointment and missed opportunity that makes it clear that Xbox will sadly remain a second-best way to experience the simulator on a good day.
I moved to PC in December 2023 after realizing that it was very unlikely they were going to get the platform to reliably work given the memory and other performance constraints. This view unfortunately was validated further since 2024’s release.
